What do you do on your lunch break?

I know you eat lunch Stick out tongue  But what else do you do?  Do you run errands, make phone calls, nap, read?  How do you spend that 30-60 minutes of free time in the middle of the afternoon?

Re: What do you do on your lunch break?

  • I typically read during my lunch break and text friends back and forth a little bit.  Today however, I went to Rite Aid, got a new nail polish, and sat in my suv and painted my nails a glittery pink lol.

  • I'm terrible and go out to lunch all.the.time when I'm at the office.  In fact, I plan my work from home days around days that I have lunch meetings so I can go out to lunch at the office.  It's more of a social thing for me - it's when I get to spend time with my coworkers.

If no one is around to go to lunch with when I work at the office, I will either run an errand or two, or just pick up something quick.  The kitchen at work grosses me out, so I never bring my lunch.

When I work from home, I sometimes will go run errands during lunch, and pick something up on my way back or cook when I get home.  Or I just stay in and work through lunch.  Probably half and half.

Today I am working from home, and my dad came to take me to lunch.

  • Hah, funny you post this b/c I just got back from a mini-shopping spree at Ann Taylor Loft.  They have 40% off the entire store (including additional off sale items).

I picked up a few things and of course am having buyer's remorse.  But mostly every is for work and a few items I'd wear outside of work also.  Sorry I'm being lazy about PIPing but I got dress.  I got a great deal on work pants ($17 originally $70) though.  Ugh, I just hate spending money, but I do need clothes occassionaly.

Dress #1 < which looks really casual here, but I think I can pull over with a navy cardi and flats for work

But usually....I eat lunch and get on FB for about 30 minutes, also checking ideeli (sometimes the other sale sites also), somedays I run errands (like shopping today, but usually it's to the post office or Walgreens).  And I try to read at least 10 minutes from whatever book I'm on.  Sometimes it's more though.

Depends on my mood that day. Most days I just read during lunch. Some days I run home and walk my dog, or I'll head to a store and do some shopping.

  • I'm pretty lucky in that I don't have a set time I have to be at work, nor do I have to stay until a certain time (within reason of course).  I also don't really have a set amount of time for lunch.  I suppose if you wanted to get technical and look at the union contract, I would have 30 minutes.  I usually just eat at my desk, so I just take 10 minutes to run and buy something.  Other times, I'll go for an hour lunch.

  • I actually usually DON'T eat on my lunch break.  Because if I use part of my hour to eat, that's less TV watching time I get (less Teen Mom and House and The Office, etc) lmao.  So I eat at my desk, sometime after 11am usually.  And then go to lunch from 1-2 and either watch something online or do my nails or whatever.

    I'm a horrible employee.

  • Usually have some personal calls to make.  I sometimes go shopping, but I haven't done that in a long time.  Typically, I'm just enjoying lunch and the break from being on the phone.

Now that the weather is breaking, you can find me taking small walks around our campus,

  • I usually FB from my phone since I can't on my work computer or if I have any errands to run I will do that. Usually we all eat at the same time so we sit and talk about TV shows, work drama etc.

  • I only get 30 minutes, so I typically bring my lunch.  I have a mini fridge in my office.  FANCY! :-P

I usually just eat whatever I brought and Nest, FB, make phone calls.  I should learn to actually leave my office though because I typically end up getting interrupted with work at some point.

  • I usually run errands/shop (mostly window) and twice a week (at least), I run home to take my dog out. I like to give her a break and always makes the work day a little brighter to see her ;)

  • I spend it by myself. I spend way too much time with the public and the people I work with (not the ladies in my department, just the store in general) are slobs. I often go home. Sometimes I eat in my car and just listen to music. Sometimes I go get a manicure. Sometimes I peruse the bookstore. I usually Facebook at some point.
  • I only get 30 minutes...So most days i bring in the leftovers from the night before...(which was my new year resolution to eat more of the left overs) so most days I'll got back to the "break/Safe/everything" room and enjoy me so good home cooking. days I don't bring my lunch I'll run over to the store (next to us) and grab something from them and go back and just sit for 30 min enjoying that time to not TRY to sell anything! its nice

Ugh, don't you hate that!  I'm the same way (although I sit in a cube), but it's like, just because I'm sitting at my desk during lunch hour doesn't mean I want to discuss work
  • I only get 30 minutes and work no where near any restaurants so we never go out.  Since I am at a school my lunch is bookended by bells ringing.  I work about 10 minutes into my lunch period.  Then I go eat with some other teachers.  One of them drives me absolutely nuts, but I need to interact with adults for a few minutes of the day.
