Lawn drainage systems
We got 4 trees cut down and our yard (which already had drainage issues) has gotten much worse. We got the sides and front of the house re-graded, but the suggestions the contractor gave us for the back yard were really expensive. He was highly rated on Angie's List, but we're also not thrilled with the work that was done on the front and sides.
We currently have some kind of drainage system in the back - we think a French drain-- that we can hear trickling when it rains. However, it has stopped working now that the puddling is worse - we think it's overwhelmed by the amount of water or it is clogged.
Anyone have a recommendation for someone who can help us come up with an economical solution?

You could always dig up an area and see what's really there (if you don't really have an idea/can't see the drainage). Depending on where the pooling is happening, you may be able to put in a dry well.
We have a HUGE pooling problem near the rear of our yard and fixed it by installing a pathway of stones/pebbles (graded away from the yard/towards the rear of the property). We've already seen improvement after the last rainstorm.
Hopefully the pooling is away from the foundation - that's really the main concern.
