the scariest room in my house is my basement. it used to be the pride and joy of the house. it's finished, wall to wall carpeting, recessed lighting, wired for surround sound (that i've never gotten around to hooking up). the works. then the basement leaked a few times. we got most of the water up but the edges of the carpet are stained from the clay (read dirt) that was brought in with the water. despite professional cleaning, it's never gotten totally clean. then add foster kittens (almost 40 over a few year period), taking the couch out to use upstairs, and it's basically an eyesore now.
subsequently it's become a dumping ground that started with project wedding. and yeah... i still have tons of wedding stuff down there. i actually just vacuumed the steps yesterday which were grossly dirty. and don't get me started on my h's bathroom which is also down there. he's not one for cleaning his shower and i'm never down there so i don't even think about it. my IL's are coming over this weekend so i'll need to get going on it. i'll probably need a hazmat suit. nice, huh?
anyone else wanna confess anything? cleaning or non-cleaning related?
Re: s/o embarassment post. i confess...
Cleaning related I just said to my H "Good thing everyone that comes to visit has pets". I feel like no matter what we do there's cat hair everywhere. Wouldn't trade the cats for anything, but the hair drives me insane.
Non-cleaning related - H and I just squeezed in some lovin before my friend gets here for the weekend and I told him jokingly "I'll be Katy Perry and you be the Extra Terrestrial". He looked at me like I was insane. ha!
Our basement is a bottomless pit too. The front part is H's man cave so its not too bad. The back part is just laundry every where. We have a really bad habit of not bring the clean laundry upstairs. Actually earlier this week I noticed it smells pretty funky down there. I'm afraid it might be our chest freezer. I'm wondering if it came unplugged and the food in there went bad. Not that I climbed over the mountains of clothes to check it out. Great now I feel guilty.... guess what I will be doing on Saturday after I get out of my stupid mandatory class.
Also our 3rd bedroom is a regular dumping ground too. I've been wanting to tackle that for a while too.
