DH and I are once again looking at cars. We're in a more serious mode now though. We'd like to trade in my Aveo for an SUV with good gas mileage (well, decent for an SUV) or another car with both more storage and better safety features
We've been to a couple dealers and right now, we really like crossroad ford. The guy that helped us there was extremely helpful, not pushy and the most honest I've seen yet.
We also went to the Jeep place at Cary Auto Mall. The guy there. . well, he's called us every other freaking day (either around 8am or 10pm) for about 2 weeks now. DH is going to call him back today I believe. When we went there to look at the Jeep compass, we told him up front, we were NOT buying that day, just looked. So then he proceeds to run numbers. That didnt bother us too much because it was nice to see where we could be. However when we left and walked away without the car he was a complete asshat and based on that alone, I refuse to do buisness with him.
So now that I'll gone on way too much. .
Who do you like, dealer wise? Could you recommend a car (right now, I like the Jeep Compass 2011 style and Ford Escape 2010-2011)? Do you know any dealers around that DONT work on commission?
thanks! ![]()
Re: Car Dealers
I got my Ford Escape from Crossroads, and would definitely go back. They were really good to work with through the buying process and anytime I've taken it in for service. If DH and I buy another Ford, we'd definitely shop there again. Our sales guy was Charlie (and I get a birthday card from him every year
)
DH bought a honda about a year ago, and I'm hesitant about using Autopark Honda again. We had some issues with them one too many times.
P.S... Almost four years later, I still love my Escape. I average about 25-26 mpg. On long trips, I get about 28 on the highway.
We had the same experience with the Jeep dealership in Cary. It was super annoying.
I don't know anyone that doesn't work on a commission, but I will say that with both the dealerships we've worked with recently (Hendrick PreOwned and Land Rover of Cary) they were not pushy at all and actually super helpful. Good luck with your search!
Which model do you have? Have you found that it's retained its value? What about maintained itself in general. The Aveo seems to want to break our wallet. We're going to take a hit on it by trading in (I owe more than it's worth) but I'd rather take the hit than continue to sink money into a car that isnt retained value and isnt holding up. - We had John. . he reminded me of my dad in a way. Like, when we were talking about our budget and current costs he was like "I don't want to NOT sell you a car, but your school comes first" (we had mentioned that loans will take affect in a few months)
Marky, yeah, we're not going back there, even if I do end up with a Jeep. The dude didnt even shake our hand when we were leaving, even though DH had stuck his hand out to shake and thank him for showing us the car and letting us test drive. He didnt say goodbye, so long, kiss my ass, nothing. Yet, he's hounding our phones and even calling mine with a blocked number. Sketch to the max in my opinion. I've also heard from friends that they too had a bad experience at the autopark. .. Oh well. Lol
I have the XLT. So far, I've had to change my tires and brakes, and general maintenance (oil changes, rotate tires). Right now, I almost have 55K miles on it.
I've had to take it to the dealership for warranty stuff a couple of times. Once my gas pedal was sticking (it wasn't during acceleration, but just not moving after I already had it stopped). The second time, the emergency brake handle fell off, not the whole things, just a piece of it. They said most likely it got cracked in production and finally broke when I unlocked my brake.
I'm not sure about it's current value, but I do plan to drive it until the wheels fall off.
It's held up really well, and most people don't think it's almost 4 years old.
