Steaming carpet without suction?

I have a Haan multipurpose steam cleaner, which came with a carpet tray. I was wondering how this is supposed to work without having the suction to pull the water back out of the carpet? Am I supposed to just let it dry naturally? I'm just curious how good an idea this really is before I make a mess.

Re: Steaming carpet without suction?

  • If you don't suck the water back out of the carpet, you're asking for a mildew or mold problem.

  • When I use my Haan on my hard surface floors, they dry virtually instantly. I have used on carpet for sanitizing, not so much for cleaning. The Haan does not inject water into the carpet like a carpet cleaner.  I've not had any issues, but like I said I use it to sanitize.
