I'm with Jax but work drama not family

Ok, my students ALL have accommodations/modifications on their work.  To simply what that means... basically, we simplify things for them.  On multiple choice, they get 3 instead of 4 choices and things are worded differently to make it simple but still get the concept.  Also, a lot of them get math tests read aloud to them because they can't read.

So, promptly at 8 am (as I am just sitting down at my desk from gym duty) three of my 4th graders walk in with practice math TAKS test.  Grade level tests, not modified, nothing.  This teacher expected me to administer the test as if I were giving the TAKS.  Um, wth?  Does she think I don't have other classes to teach and I can just modify these tests in my spare time?

I'm not going to lie - I sent her a very snarky note back with the kids.  Quite frankly, they don't need to take this test anyway.  TAKS is in less than 2 weeks.  Every week they take one of these dang things.  When is it enough practice????

I'm pissed......

  • I guess I dont quite understand. Do u normally administer tests for other teachers? But they are supposed to already be modified? I think the practice tests for standardized testing is crazy. I know they do it now bc those scores are important, but they never did that when I was in school.
  • I typically administer the test on TAKS day, and the official district practice tests.  These are practice tests just for the heck of it that the teacher is making them do and I never administer the tests for them then because it's classwork.  I can't not teach my stuff just to practice a test again!
