Love my neighbohood

I love our neghbors/neighborhood. We get a text every Friday to come over for happy hour, everyone is so close but not gossipy.

I just got an email from a neighbor that she found cute baby clothes while out shopping and dropped them at our front door.

This winter, DH went out of town, our snow blower broke and we got dumped on all in the same week. Another neighbor fixed the snow blower delivered it to my garage, then plowed our driveway.

There really isn't a point to this post but seriously we have the BEST neighbors.

Re: Love my neighbohood

  • That's awesome! I love living in the city, but this is one of the biggest things I miss about growing up in the burbs.  I don't even know my next door neighbors' names :-(

i love the idea of weekly neighbor happy hour!  Are most of them also young couples, or is it a mix?

  • We are the youngest but not by a ton. Mostly 30's and 40's and a few retired couples.

  • Wow, that's amazing!  I'm like eouellet and live in a big city, so I don't know many of my neighbors, but there are a few (mostly with dogs) who I have gotten to know over the past few years.

  • That is really nice. We have decent neighbors. We had a random tornado the year we moved in, so the whole neighborhood was out and about helping each other with different things. Now we're just sort of on a nice greeting basis with most of them. We do love our next door neighbors, though, thankfully.

  • I live in a small town but honestly most of my neighbors are weird. It's disappointing because I would love to have get-togethers in my neighborhood. We do get along really well with my next door neighbors though. We'll have dinner with them occasionally. We have had a few of the older neighbors move recently and some younger people have moved in. I'm hoping that our neighborhood is moving in a good direction.
  • Sounds like a great neighborhood!

We own a townhouse, and I barely talk to the neighbors. They're nice, we say hi, but that's about it. They're about our age, I'd like to try to get to know them, but just haven't really had the oppourtunity.

But Seattle is a big city and most of the people just walk around with their heads down, even in the neighborhoods.

  • That's so neat. I have met my neighbors but we have nothing in common and they're not people we want to get to know better. Maybe that will change once we move.

  • That's great! I'm hoping we'll find that our neighborhood is like this. We're moving next week and the few neighbors we've met so far are older so I don't think we'll be having cookouts and cocktails with them haha They are very nice people but I'd really look forward to meeting people closer to our age that we can associate with

  • What a lovely neighborhood. I used to be very much like that where I grew up, it was fantastic. I only hope that I will be able to raise my future children in the same sort of place.
