If you buy something online from an individual (in this case, Etsy) and they ship it but you never receive it, do you think they are obligated to replace it?
I know that things get lost in the mail, but if the person can't prove that they sent it, I feel like they should send a new one. Additionally, I feel that this is one of the risks of using an unreliable shipping method.
However, I feel like kind of a biitch asking...if the seller doesn't offer to send another one, I don't know what I should say.
Re: Need your opinions.
On eBay, if our buyer says they never got it, we do ship another one. BUT, our shirts are dirt cheap, so it's not a big deal to send another. Was this a big ticket item?
Also, we send USPS with delivery confimation, so we can track it. Not as reliable tracking as UPS or FedEx, but still..
It's cheap, a card. I'm bummed because I bought it for a bridal shower and now I won't get it in time. So I'd rather get a refund than a replacement, actually, but I would leave the ball in her court on that one.
I think delivery confirmation/tracking with UPS counts as reliable. She MAY have done that, she hasn't gotten back to me yet (if so, I don't know how I would proceed if she has proof that it was delivered...probably drop it).
I have had a couple mishaps over the years on etsy with bows and tutus and such and they are really good about sending me new things or giving credit. I think the 2 times that has happened they didn't have tracking the other times they have used tracking.
