Re-hashing an old discussion....
This morning I was talking to J about how we will be finding out the sex of the baby soon. He didn't know the difference between gender & sex but was willing to be educated.
So, I decided to create a clicky-poll on my BMB about it. It's interesting that as of right now, 20% of the 15 votes (or 3 people) really don't care about the difference.

Personally, if I was using any word incorrectly I would at least care enough to be educated about the correct use.
Thoughts?

Re: Re-hashing an old discussion....
I always want to know when I'm using a word wrong or saying something incorrectly. I don't understand people who say "oh I don't care to know." That's a little bit ignorant, to me, like they're turning a deaf ear to education.
Having said that, I don't get all hung up on the differences between sex and gender. I realize there is a difference, but I also think that people's definitions of gender are based mostly on sterotypes, and I'm just not down with that. I think the concept of "fluid gender" is silly. I like sports and video games and big, greasy cheeseburgers. That doesn't mean I'm suddenly 67% female & 33% male. Same goes with that little boy in JCrew. He isn't less male, because he has on pink nail polish.
