DH and I are considering getting some gaming system. But we are overwhelmed with trying to pick which one is best for us. Below are our criteria. Which one would you recommend?
- Able to stream Netflix
- Has some fitness type program (WiiFit for example)
- Has a good selection of non-video game games. (We aren't your typical video-game people, but we like the virtual bowling and guitar hero type game.)
- Can you used as a DVD player. Plus if Blue-Ray
Re: Wii, Xbox or PS3?
I have no feedback because the only gaming systems we have are the original Nintendo (yes, from back in the day) and maybe a PS2 (with only 1-2 games).
But good luck with your search! Hope you find one that you are happy with.
How is your studying going? What theme did you decide to go with for your guest room/office? Still riding the bike?
Neither DH or I are big "guns and guts" type people. So this is my concern with the PS3. Does the PS3 have a fitness type program similar to Wii Fit?
We have both WII and PS3 and love them both, but the PS3 will fit all of your criteria.
I googled fitness for ps3 and this popped up (http://www.ps3fitness.com/)
Also, ps3 now is offering a lot more games that aren't just guns and gutsy (not my style). We recently got Mod Nation Racers (I think that's the name) and I'm totally hooked. Its Mario cart on Crack x 10. There are also LittleBigPlanet & LittleBigPlanet 2, which are a lot of fun.
My vote, while Im totally a Mario person and love my wii, its for the PS3. It seems to have a lot more versatility and I think you guys would like it more
The big plus for the PS3 is blu-ray for sure. I don't know anyone who's gotten the PS3 move, you may want to look into that. If that's comparable to the kinect then the PS3 may be your best choice.
I know I'm late to the conversation but...
The PS3 fits all of your qualifications. Its Netflix streaming is very nice and easy to use. With the addition of the PS3 Move, they are starting to come out with fitness games (a Zumba game is one of the more prominent ones). The PS3 move has also brought about more non-traditional, Wii-like games on the PS3. Its DVD player is great and with HD cables, the BluRay is also awesome. (Keep in mind, this recommendation is coming from a Nintendo loyalist.)
Also, there are a lot of really cute, fun, non-guts-and-guns games for the PS3. If you get one and want some suggestions, send me a message. I can give you some ideas.
