Ballgown Accessories

Dress

Ok, here she is!  This is the ball gown I decided on for the Gala next month.  She's BCBGMaxAzria.  Now I'm on to thinking about accessories.  Do you ladies vote for silver metallic, gold metallic, or something completely different (pink, red, etc) to add more of a pop of color?

I'm leaning towards either silver or gold metallic because I already have nice dressy shoes in both those colors and wouldn't have to buy new ones, and minimal jewelry.

I'm also thinking a shawl instead of a coat - I'm hoping it will finally be warm enough here in early May to get away with it!

Pretty!  Is that like a charcoal color?

If you have both silver and gold shoes already, maybe try it on and see what works better?  It's the difference between cool and warm, so it's pretty big.  I feel like one is going to stand out as being better.

  • The color is called "dark ink" so it looks like it's got some blue in it.  I took a chance and ordered the dress online from Lord and Taylor without trying it on...just have a feeling it's the one and I've been keeping an eye out / have tried a few on in the stores.  From the picture it actually looks like the gold accessories would pop more, but I will definitely have to look at both when I get it!

  • Whatever color you do go simple. Like a few bangles or something. There is enough detail and the dress is gorgeous so it doesn't need much!
  • I think silver would look good with it. Maybe some really small dangling silver earrings and a few bangles.
  • Very pretty! I'd definitely use what I already had. See which one works better and report back! For some reason I think gold might work better if there's undertones of blue in there.

Definitely a pashmina instead of a coat.
