Planning 1st Anniversary trip- Hawaii?

We are really excited to be looking into Hawaii. Anyone else planning an anniversary trip to celebrat their 1st anniversary? Any suggestions for things to see in Hawaii?

Re: Planning 1st Anniversary trip- Hawaii?

  • We want to do something for ours, but we don't know what, and funds are kind of limited. We were thinking maybe Put-In-Bay because it's not that far away.

  • We'll probably be going to an out of state wedding the Friday before our anniversary and one of DH's groomsman will be in the area the week after...so we'll probably do something low key around town. We are planning a HUGE family trip to Hawaii next summer though....I can't wait! :-)

  • We want to do something too, but funds are definitely limited. I think we'll probably just spend the weekend up at the family campsite. Hopefully we can have it to ourselves and just spend time with each other (and the dog, of course) without having to share with Darren's grandparents or something.
  • It all depends on our finances, and there are at least two weddings lining up by the end of August, so we may not be able to get out anywhere on our own, but one of the weddings is in Niagara falls... maybe we can stay there for a few days.  i also really want to get out to the Carribean, but that's another story.

  • We would love to do something fun, but like pps, funds are limited.  We'll have to see as it gets closer.  Have fun planning your trip - it sounds amazing!

  • We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon and loved it.  We were in Maui for a week and Kauai for 5 days.  Where are you going?  I can give you recs on both of those places.

For our anniversary we are taking a road trip up the east coast to visit some family in DE and NJ.  DH also wants to visit some breweries along the way.  Nothing overly exciting, but we love visiting breweries.

  • We don't have any big plans. We'll probably just go out to a nice dinner. Plus, DH just started his new job so he wont have any vaca time until November. I'm alos flying down to Az. two days after our anniversary cause by best friend is having her first baby :)

  • We want to go on our honeymoon for our first anniversary since we never got to go on one.  We're looking into an all inclusive in Riviera Maya, but aren't too sure how to go about it.  We don't have $2000 to drop right away, but would prefer to pay it over a few months.  Do you just throw something like that on your credit card or what?  It's not that we won't have the money; it's really just that we'd prefer to pay it off in bits as that's a lot of cash to just drop.

One of my BMs went to Hawaii for her honeymoon and loved it.

Where in AZ are you going?  I am in Tucson and would love to meet up if you will be here....

  • I will be in Phoenix. I've never been to to Az. I'm really looking forward to going beside that its going to be so frigin hot in August! But I probably won't get out to much to sigh see since M will be having her baby.

I don't know how far Tucson is from Phoenix but it would be fun to get together!

  • We're spending the weekend back at the boutique hotel where the wedding was!  I know we'll be enjoying the amazing food that catered our wedding, and who knows what else we'll do while we're there.  Maybe go for a hike since there are nearby places?  Or just relaxxxx...

Also, for our "guest book" we did a sort of a time capsule,  so we'll be opening it up on our anniversary and reading all the stuff guests wrote. :-)

I too have been to Maui...It's truly a magical, beautiful place, and the lifestyle is hard to beat!  You'll be so relaxed whichever island you choose.

If you are going to Maui btw, check out the road to Hana.  We took door-less, roofless jeeps on our drive, and it made it so much more fun.  There are waterfalls and gorgeous scenery wherever you look!

  • We're taking a beach trip sometime in October to FL.  We're just calling it our one-year anniversary trip.  Fun fun!

  • Hawaii sounds awesome!  H and I are going on a road trip to Montreal and Quebec City.  I'm excited because I love it there and haven't been in years.

My grandma is crazy, though.  She was asking if we were going to have an anniversary party.  I was like "um, we just had a party last year!"

  • We're heading back up to RI to spend ours with our families.  DH's parents are coming down from Maine and we're all going out to dinner at the place we had our rehearsal dinner with my dad and grampa.  After everything that's happened since last August we thought this was the best way to spend it.  And we may be going to Hawaii in October to spread Mom's ashes so we're trying to save up time and $ for that trip when it happens.
