Re: PG Check In

  • Doing good here. I did an SPCA walk today with my brother's pit bull. I think it was more him walking me than me walking him. I'd like to think it was good exercise though.

I have my glucose test on Wednesday at 2pm. The instructions on the drink that they gave me said I can't eat anything with sugar on the day of. So what the heck can I eat all day?? Help?!

I *think* Rob and I might finally have settled on a name for our girl. We are likely going to be "those" people who will keep the name a secret until she's here though. I just don't want any criticism from people. Plus I think it's going to drive MIL nuts! Devil

  • I just saw another Oct 08 is gonna be a mommy, but I don't want to spill the beans, it's on FB though =)

Dani, I'm not really sure, I'd call them to see. I wasn't told no sugar before the test. That seems weird to me. Because you are eating things with sugar all the time, so why wouldn't they want to test that? I would think eating not sugar may change it. I don't know though.

We kept our name a secret =)

Yeah, I think I'll call. Otherwise I'm going to starve all day.

  • I just saw who is pregnant on FB too! So exciting!

2 pm seems really late for a glucose test Dani. I would call them to see what you can eat.

  • Doing okay. Glucose test on Wednesday also.

DH now calls LO Kiersten on a regular basis, I am still not so sure but he seems to have decided where his vote goes. LOL

  • Dani, I love the idea of keeping the name a secret! I however, would never be able to do that. I can keep big juicy secrets, but secrets that I'm really excited about (that don't directly negatively effect anything in any way) I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. I can't wait til she's here to hear what name you guys chose!

Things are ok, heartburn is a constant thing now. I'm sleeping sitting up to try to keep it at a minimum but it still wakes me up a few times, if not a lot, throughout the night. BH's are back, more than ever. They've definitely increased in strength and frequency. I'm hoping this is a good sign that she'll come on her own, and I wont be late/induced. I just hope she'll hang out a few more weeks until full term. Then she's more than welcome to make her appearance.

I honestly cannot wait to see who she looks like, and if she's a redhead or not.

Us too lol. With me being a somewhat redhead with tons of freckles and Rob being blonde, I think our chances are pretty high. Big Smile

I think being one of those people is a brilliant idea, mostly because we are too. LOL

I've been trying to get as much information about our chances of having a red head. D is pale, blue eyed, and was blonde as a little kid, and is now light brown -- So I think we have a good chance also.

Depending on which site I read though, some say it's just based on recessive traits as long as the gene is in there somewhere.. Other sites I've read say that both parents need to have a red headed gene somewhere in their background. So who knows what actually is true or not.
But, I found out from MIL that someone on D's side is a strawberry blonde, so I'm counting that as a redheaded trait on his side. So we're good to go either way, now it's just waiting and seeing.  I really would love a little mini me, even though I'll be dreading the 12-21 years.

  • Ben is obviously a big red head and I have red hair on both sides of my family. I keep saying the kid is going back in if it does not pop out with red hair.

Minus round ligament pain which includes some major hips pains, and still being tired a lot, I am feeling pretty good. My next OB appointment is on Wednesday, and my anatomy scan is two weeks from this Friday.

I am getting really stressed getting baby related stuff done. Cleaning out the room, picking out nursery furniture, looking at what we want to register for, researching cloth diapers, figuring out my post baby working situation. I know I have a while but the next 6 weeks are super busy and by the time I have free time, I do not want to be behind where I should be.

    I heart Ben!!

  • i just wanted to say i am so excited for you all! it's such a fun time you all are in right now!

re: the glucose test. the first time, i had to chug the drink at home then make sure i was at the office exactly 1 hr later to get my blood taken. the second time for the 3 hr, i had to chug it at the office then sit there for 3 hours while they tested me every hour.  both were in the am so i couldn't even imagine waiting till 2, then chugging all that sugar. i'd probably get all crazy from the sugar high.

  • ok i have no idea what i did, but somehow i posted my response to a post from march...sorry if i messed up everyone's board view!

    i always miss this post!!!!

im doing ok...definitely starting to hit the pregnancy wall though.  Work is so exhausting that it makes me want to cry sometimes.  Next week i will be 37 weeks pregnant and taking 8 toddlers on a field trip.  It's too much.  I just feel like all the women i work with worked right up until their due date, so i feel like i'm wimping out if i call it quits.  I may feel differently after this week though because one of my assistants is on vacation all week, and the other assistant only works in my classroom from 10am-3pm so i will be by myself a lot with the kids. we'll see i guess.

i go for an ultrasound tonight because the dr. couldn't feel where the baby's head was last week, and if she's breach, we need to start talking about a plan.  I really think she's head down, so i'm not worrying about it too much. I'm 5'7, she's still got plenty of room to move around Yes

    ok, enough whining.

36 week appt is on wednesday...so excited to be at this point!

crib is finally here and assembled!!! Mattress really doesn't go up that high, DH put the brackets on wrong at first lol and the bedding is pink and brown (lots of confusion came from the picture lol).

  • I love that bedding Kelly.

I called my doc office and they clarified that I can have things with sugar. They just don't want me downing sodas and cotton candy that day. Whew...at least I don't have to starve on Wednesday.

I'm glad they clarified that for you. I would go nuts if I couldn't eat when I was pregnant.

Ugh the heartburn really does start to increase as time goes by doesn't it? I am sleeping most nights sitting up too. I gag trying to take any hearburn stuff so have been drinking lots of milk

Oh I have costco sized tums in the house, a normal sized smoothie berry tums in my purse, and travel size stash in a ziplock at work. They're only lasting for about 30 minutes now though, and I've been eating so many that I can barely stomach them anymore. POOKS- I'm downing milk and yogurt like it's nobodys business. Greek yogurt is great since it's soo thick, I bought a costco size case of chobani's haha, Dh stared at me like I was crazy.

I called my OB today, due to the swelling, and the BH were really bad this morning.. basically it's at the point where if I'm walking I'm having BH's. And they were getting painful instead of just uncomfortable. So I'm going in tomorrow for an appt to check for pre-e (swelling and visual disturbances) and also because of the BH's. I'm half anticipating them putting me on some sort of bed rest since I'm walking and on my feet all day for work. So we'll see. I hope not, cause I have a new hire starting this week and I'm not sure who's going to train her if I'm not there. But the nurse I was on the phone with knew I had an appt for Wednesday morning, and she told me to go in tomorrow anyways... which is what's making me worry a little. Cause if it wasn't something to worry about a day wouldn't have mattered.. right?

I haven't had Chibani in so long maybe I should try it again then (it didn't sit well for a while there)

I hope your appt goes okay!!!! I find BH to be incredibly uncomfortable, they have eased up so much in the last week thank goodness.. I hope it's not Pre-e for you, crossing everything for your appt tomorrow!!!!
