I'm so excited! MIL got one for me for my birthday (had a surprise party last weekend but my birthday isn't until Easter) and DH and I broke it out today. I just made a cake and frosting from scratch for the first time ever. I didn't really like it too much but DH said it was fantastic and I probably just need to get use to a not-out-of-the-box cake taste. I just used the recipies that were in the little booklet that comes with it. Does anybody have any great ideas for things I can make with it?
We also went out yesterday and ordered the slicer / meat grinder / and vegetable strainer attachments at BBB. The should be here in about 2 weeks so I can't wait to start using those too! DH is always the one in the kitchen so it's going to be a change for me to be in there ![]()
Re: Just got a kichenaid mixer!
We have the ice cream maker attachment and like making ice cream in it. I also made a Guinness chocolate cake that he really liked. http://smittenkitchen.com/2006/11/ganached-guinness-goodness/
Have fun!

You're getting the slicer attachment? I like that (though sometimes it's easier to just chop up the carrot or whatever than it is to put the pieces together). But, run some potatoes through the thin slicer. It makes them almost paper thin. Then you can bake them brushed with olive oil and a little seasoning salt. Omg, super yummy oven fries. They get so crispy when they're that thin.
I think I am most pumped about using it to make mashed potatoes haha. MIL makes the best I have ever had, and I am not a potato fan so that's saying something, so when DH told me we could use this to make them like hers I was very excited. I think we are doing pork chops and mashed potatoes this weekend
