Anyone know of any charts or graphs or images that show estimates of how pg one "looks" belly-wise at different weeks? I remember seeing one that you could drag the little dial and see the belly grow but of course I don't remember the URL.
Edit: How pg does one usually look at 16 weeks? Would you say its fairly easy to conceal a 16 week belly?
Re: (@) : Belly Growth Rate?
bunny - the one I saw before showed how all your organs and muscles fit around the baby and compensate - its both fascinating and disturbing. Its great for getting sympathy from the DH though I would think!!!!!!
Oh, I've seen the organ one. ?It was disturbing.
I think that a timeline would just be a rough estimate. ?It's different with every woman, and it's different with first pregnancies, too.?
Check one of the babe boards, lots of people there with belly pics. Whether or not it's easy to conceal depends a lot upon the person. I didn't show at all until I was 5 months. I felt pudgy but no one could even tell I was pg - my BFs only knew because I was so fricken miserable and told them. Even at 5 months though, it was easy to hide. I'm long waisted and thin (5'7 and about 118 -- actually a bit thinner than pre-pg) and from the back, I never looked pg according to my friends. If I wore a baggy sweatshirt over my pg jeans, I probably could have hidden my pregnancy through 9 months. There was no point though. Everyone and their dog read about it in one of the local papers.
Sorry I don't know the site, but from my experience: with my first pregnancy I didn't show any bump until about 21 weeks (really bad morning sickness + strong abdominal muscles.) With my second pregnancy, those muscles peeled right back and I had a noticeable bump by 13 weeks (and I had horrible morning sickness that time around too.) I think it has less to do with weight gain (or lack therof) and more to do with your abdominal muscle tone.
Sorry, I know that doesn't really answer your question!
It totally depends on the person. Some people start showing very early, some people still don't look pregnant at 5 months. First pregnancies tend to show later than subsequent pregnancies.
Personally, I started really, officially showing around 5 months. I could have definitely gotten away with hiding my belly at 16 weeks and passing it off as just having put on some weight. I looked heavier, but not obviously pregnant.
