Anyone here yet? How was your weekend?
____
It's a crap-tastic morning here, it's snowing! wth?! My weekend was okay...Friday I ended up going w/some friends to get a mani/pedi from Youswoops we bought together and then we ate at friends and I went home and called it an early night.
Saturday we slept in, but I did some errands and grocery shopping and made an adorable Easter centerpiece, which I need to post! Saturday night we went out for a friend's birthday, which turned into a $hitshow. DH and some of the boys watched the Bulls game at noon and drank for that...so really they shouldn't have drank at night, but they did, and when we stopped for beer DH saw they sold Four Loko (which was supposed to be illegal I thought?) and a group of us kind of shared some. Bad idea. DH left the party for no apparent reason and wasn't answering my calls so I went to the bar with the girls and then later DH called saying he didn't have his keys for the apt so I went home.
We have both decided that nothing good ever seems to come of us drinking to get drunk (as opposed to wine or a cocktail w/dinner) and we're going to "take time off" for a bit. It's just going to be challenging since that's all our friends seem to want to do on the weekends. I told DH it's time to branch out and meet new people, or find new activites for the 2 of us. This should be interesting.
Yesterday I bummed around and we started watching Weeds Season 1 via my sister's Netflix. Now I think we're hooked!

Morning Ladies!
Not too much excitement this weekend. Friday night we had dinner with my best friend ever who I haven't seen much in the last few years because he's been working/living in Philly, so that was awesome. The three of us went to the movies afterwards and saw Source Code, which was pretty good. He just moved back into town, so we already have plans to have dinner at his place in two weeks!
Saturday I had a bridal shower, which made me sentinmental to see this girl so excited and nervous and blah blah blah haha
Saturday night we got an awful storm, it was insane. We hung out downstairs for the evening because the winds were so bad and the thunder and lightning was crazy so it was actually loud upstairs. We went driving around 10pm to see the storm for ourselves. It was crazzzzy out there, but so much fun to drive around in.
Yesterday was more cleaning at my mom-moms. We finally finished allllll of her clothes and holiday decorations. Goodwill must know what it means when you come there with a truck full of clothes, because the guy working there told me he was sorry. All that's left now is furniture, and we have some of it given away already so it just needs to be picked up. I have no idea what will happen with the rest of it. Hate it.
And that's so sad about the Goodwill man. I mean it makes sense, but that's just heartbreaking. I hope you're doing okay! While cleaning did you come across anything that you'll keep to remember her by?

Hannah - snow? Wow - what a difference from here. We are going to a pool party this coming weekend - ha! When I told my dad that my SIL was having a pool party on Sat, he (who is from NY) said we needed to call all of our relatives (in NY & Boston) to tell them how awesome it is to live in Texas because you can have a pool party on Easter weekend.
Anyhow - our weekend was ok. Pretty low key. We did get Carter's car seat as planned, so that's in his room now
On the way home from Babies R Us, we got some mulch, so our landscaping looks MUCH better! Yesterday, I went shopping for a bit, then we went to my parents' house for the afternoon so Chris could help my dad fix the fountain in their pond, and I could do laundry since we are still without a washer at our house.
Oh - and we watched "How Do You Know" on Saturday night. It was terrible.

Some days are certainly harder than others, but everyone says it'll get easier. As far as her stuff.. I am the only grand-daughter so she's been telling me my entire life that I get her jewelry when shes goes. It was always an arguement that I didn't want her jewelry, because obviously that meant I didn't have her. So, now I have 4 different jewelry boxes of her stuff. She lost her center stone to her engagement/wedding ring (she had it combined after they divorced) just before she passed and was devastated. I had the ring fixed the week before my wedding and wore it that day.. so that's the main thing that I have to old on tight to.
You can sorta see it here on my middle finger.. I have amazing pics of it in my album.
Hannah - I'm afraid of storms, too. We get quite a lot of them here (although less in the past year or so than usual...knock on wood!). I always feel so ridiculous when I'm scared of the thunder and lightning, and my dog stays calm as can be through the whole thing! Nothing like that (fireworks, etc.) really bothers her.
Kearstin - sorry to hear you had to do that this weekend. It's really nice that you have all of her jewelry...what a significant thing to remember her by that you can use/wear on a daily basis.
Megan & Chris
Kearstin, that must have been rough, but it's great that you have her jewelry to remember her by. I have my grandmother's jewelry as well, and while a lot of it is stuff I would never wear, it's a comfort to know that I have it. And from what I can see of that ring, it looks lovely.
I've been off since Thursday, but we didn't do much this weekend since Jack is recovering from his neuter. We caught up on some tv we wanted to watch, mostly, and just chilled. He's fine, though, (if a bit smelly - he desperately needs a bath, and right now he kind of smells like a corn chip), and I was going stir crazy after not leaving the house for three days to go anywhere but CVS or the grocery store. So last night, we ducked over to a bar in Cambridge we've been wanting to try for some burgers and beers. And today, we both took vacation days for Patriots day, so we're sitting on the couch, drinking beer, and watching the Sox game. Oh, and dreading going back to work tomorrow.
Aw Kearstin, that's so cool that you wore it! And fun that you have other items. If nothing else, you may be able to pass them on some day.
Megan- Ugh, yes, snow! I was shocked when I opened the door this morning to let Osc out. I wore gloves, winter coat and ear muffs today! And we're going to the Cubs game tongiht w/DH's company. I may freeze!
Also, I watched "How Do You Know" a few weeks ago. It was the first time I bought a movie On Demand (DH was out and I was bored to death) and I was soo disappointed! I love Reese, but ack, that movie was a drag!

Erica - which bar in Cambridge did you go to? My sister and I went to one when I was there in September that was decent (I don't love bars, so that's a compliment, I guess)...can't remember the name of it, but wonder if it's the same? Not that there are only two bars to choose from there, but...
Hannah - we also rented The Fighter with Marky Mark. We didn't watch it yet, but hopefully it will be better than the other one! On HDYK, I just kind of hated all of the characters. Oh, and I fell asleep before it was over because it was so bad (this doesn't really say a lot because I typically do fall asleep during movies, but this one was because it was super bad, not because I was tired).

Heh, I can think of about 5 within 2 blocks of my office, so there's definitely more than 2. We went to Cambridge Common, which is between Harvard and Porter squares. I'd love to know where you went, though, if you eventually remember.
We saw The Fighter a few weeks ago. It was good, but I didn't love it as much as some of the other Oscar nominees. The mom and sisters are totally Lowell, though. Seriously. I had family from that area, and yeah. They represented.
Thanks for the support ladies! I really appreciate it.
Megan -- I absolutely lovvved The Fighter. Marky Mark is a hottie so that's a plus.. and I'm normally not a huge fan of Christian Bale but I abolustely loved him in that. He did so well with that role. I loved movies based on true stories. I saw it in theaters and plan to rent it soon!
Oh no, we have ?How Do You Know? coming from Netflix tomorrow; I just checked and it?s already been shipped, grrr! I didn?t really have a desire to see it but Jason put it on our list?yes, I am married to a man who likes romantic comedies lol.
Let?s see?I started my weekend early by calling into work ?sick? on Friday. In reality, I was just tired and really needed a ?me? day. I ran a few errands and sat around watching old Beverly Hills 90210 reruns, it was great. I also came up with what I think is going to be a cute Easter gift for our parents that wont break the bank. I found these really cute little tin flower planters at the dollar store (I swear, dollar stores are my favorite stores lol) that have spring-ish pictures painted on them. I grabbed up 4 of those and some Easter themed cellophane, and plan to fill the tins with homemade chocolate chip cookies, then wrap the cellophane around it and tie a bow to make it look kind of like an Easter ?basket.? I?ll take a picture once I get them done which probably wont be until Saturday night since I want the cookies to be fresh. Anyway, kind of got off topic there?Once Jason got home, I made us kabobs for dinner, then we watched a movie about bank robbers called Takers which was actually decent. Saturday it poured down rain all day long so we took naps, relaxed, and I went to buy some flowers for my sister. My Dad picked us up around 5pm to go to my sister?s play at her college which is an hour away. She was the lead role in ?Into the Woods? and did a great job. We barely survived the car ride home in the dark rainy weather with my Dad (I?m starting to think he shouldn?t drive far distances at night anymore, scared us to death). Then on Sunday we stayed in our pajamas all day except when Jason went to get a new built for our vacuum cleaner. He fixed the vacuum and then vacuumed while I sat there and watched?perfection lol.

Thanks for the encouragement on The Fighter! Now I'm looking forward to seeing it. I think we'll watch it tonight. I might even try to get Chris to sit down and watch it at 6 so I can stay awake for the whole thing
Xan - sorry to ruin the movie for you. Maybe you'll like it. I just hated the characters and thought it was slow, which is surprising because I typically like stupid movies like this!
Erica - I looked around on Google Maps and I think it might be Grendel's Den. But not 100% sure. So if you go there and it sucks, don't blame me - ha! I just remember the place we went to having a great selection of beer, and the food was decent, too. Although the food at the place you went to looks much better!
Also, different area, but my sister and I also went to a really great bar/restaurant called Eastern Standard around the corner from Fenway after the double header we went to the weekend of "Hurricane" Earl. It was a really nice night out, so we sat outdoors, and had a very pleasant experience - drinks, appetizers, and desesrt. Not sure what type of reputation this place has, but we liked it.
Megan & Chris
Yeah, Grendel's is a good time. Their food is half price at happy hour (it's illegal for there to be drink specials in MA, so this is how places get around it), so we swing by there after work occasionally for a quick bite/drink. And Eastern Standard is supposed to be really good, but I haven't been. It's on our list, but we always tend to go to the same handful of places when we go out for dinner.
Oh, good!
I would definitely recommend Eastern Standard. I only thought of it because I just threw a receipt away a few days ago that was still in my wristlet from September. LIke I said, we didn't have dinner, but what we did have was fabulous!
And we walked through the hotel next door (Commonwealth, maybe?) to get to the T and they have walls and walls of pictures of William Wegman's Weimaraners, which my sister is working on getting (that breed of dog, not the pictures!). So that was fun, too...in a slightly tipsy state
Another of their old favorite places was The Fours. They used to live right down the street from there (I miss them living in that area...so convenient to everything!). I went once or twice with them and remember it being a pretty cool place.
I don't know why I'm over here recommending places to you. You live there! I'll have to ask you for recs next time I go up there!
Megan & Chris
Thanks, they are super yummy. I just did chicken, steak, green pepper, and onion then seasoned with a little salt, pepper, and rosemary...nom nom nom.
