Someone who has un-froze your cake..

...advise me!

I think someone said take it out Wednesday (if anniversary on sunday) and put it in the fridge, then take it out Sunday morning? What if I won't be home until like 2:00 on Sunday? Should I take it out then or leave it out all day Saturday/Saturday night?

Re: Someone who has un-froze your cake..

  • I think if you take it out saturday it should be fine. Of course thats only if it doesn't have a perishable filling. If it is covered in buttercream, the buttercream tends to act as air blockage shield to keep the inside of the cake from drying and it takes a LOT longer than just a couple days of sitting out for buttercream to go bad lol

  • I had mine in the fridge Tuesday for Sunday eating. We only had to leave it out of an hour or two outside of the fridge on Sunday, so you can wait until you get home.

  • Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be gross anyway because my mom didn't freeze it right, but hey it's worth a shot!

  • We actually cut it frozen into slices and left them to room-temperature  Probably not the best idea, but it turned out great.
  • I took it out on Saturday afternoon and by Sunday afternoon it was about 99% defrosted.  I took it out of the fridge for about an hour before we dug into it.  =)
