How ugly are these pants?
Be truthful.
What about in charcoal gray? With just a cardi and a tank? Maybe gladiator wedges?
Other suggestions?
Am I going to look like a Martian?

I like them. I think that they're a great spring/summer pant.
I also like the idea with the gladiator wedge. Some natural, coral, or turquoise jewelry would be great too.
I think this color or charcoal would be fine.
ETA: I like this styling (similar pants):
I think you could also pull of cargo skinnies too. Since you're more petite, it would lengthen you legs.

They're Simply Vera for Khol's. They only have petite online, but they're on major clearance in store (80%).

I was under the impression they were ugly because my husband actually laughed at me when I had them on last night, so maybe I'm not crazy in thinking they're kind cute.
I have to wear dresses or drawstring or elastic waist pants because I can't button my pants over the post-surgical swelling. I have incisions from my belly button to 2" under my hips, so that is kind of a large area.

Right? I kind of want them. I think they'd be cute in grey too.
I'm only 5'5" but I actually bought the petite ones because they hit me in the right place when rolled up.

That was my concern. The gigantic possible cuff/roll at the bottom. It would make your legs look stumpy, not long.
I think they're fine for what you need them for too. I think sometimes comfort trumps style

I refuse. I think it is bad karma to have them in case we have trouble. I'm trying to ward off all the bad juju right now and be proactive (hence the surgery). I just can't, even though they're probably the most logical solution.
