Holy crap! H and I went to look at houses again this weekend (third time with a REA). We found ahouse in a really great area, with a huge (fenced!) yard, awesome deck. It's just a little outdated, but we don't mind swapping out some carpet and appliances. We talked about it for awhile, and put in an offer today! I can't believe this is real. haha I'll work on saving some pictures and uploading them... but if anyone wants the link, let me know. (I don't want to post it.)I'm also pretty open about money... The house was listed at $133k (GREAT price). We offered $129 with seller-paid closing costs. We also found out that the price had been dropped $15 only a week ago (it was listed at $149k last fall, too.)I think the actual offer got sent to the seller this morning, so we're just waiting to hear back from them. Cross your fingers for us?
That being said... apparently we're serious about this whole buying a house thing. ha. Any suggestions on home owner's insurance? I know that's another thing we have to have figured out before closing.
Re: We offered on a house!
Congrats! I hope everything turns out well for you!!! It's an exciting process!
We have State Farm insurance and have had zero problems.
Congrats! Where is it located?
As for insurance, we've been really happy with Liberty Mutual. Definitely shop around for prices. I also have been in contact with a Nestie's dad. He's an independent agent and shops multiple companies. I haven't been able to go with him yet because he can't do better on our auto, but he's so nice, and if you don't have any totaled loss car claims, like we do
, he can probably do quite well for you.
His info: Doug Pierro, American Business & Family Insurance, 651-770-6960. If you call him, let me know and I'll PM you my name so you can tell him who referred you.
Congrats! That is super exciting.
As for homeowners, try to bundle with your car insurance, they almost always give you a price break if you do it that way.
I want to see! That's exciting news.
You know, DrD started a blog about her house-hunting/buying/fixing up projects. You should, too.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
P.S. THEY ACCEPTED OUR OFFER! (now we're regretting not offering less. ha)

Awesome!! Congrats!
Agreed! Congrats - we want to see the house...link please!!
K. I'll probably take down the link later tonight. The carpet and appliances will be replaced asap, and we'll work on updating everything else while we live there!

that's super close to my grandma's house. : ) congrats!
(now, try to not get shot at that Festival. )
Oh lots to love! The exposed rafters and brick, fireplace, big deck, good-sized bedrooms...a great place to call home!
Congrats!
Thanks everyone! We're super excited to update it a little; I think it will be even more awesome!
Strength- I know! We mentioned that a few times while we were looking in that area.

Congrats!!! I grew up in Brooklyn Park off 252 and Brookdale Drive...so not far from where this house is. It's not as bad of an area as outsiders like to make of it. And the whole Festival incident was a domestic issue...which can happen anywhere.
