Re: Ring
Floyd actually surprised me at the ceremony. I had no idea he added the second band. I had it soldered before hand so they were all connected. Honestly, I can't remember how many carats they are together. We have the paperwork somewhere. Between the engagment ring top and sides and the 2 bands, it is a total of 51 diamonds.
My ring, a .6 carat marquis cut diamond with 2 -1/3 ct sapphire trilliants on each side. My engagement ring stone was inherited from his mom (it was her engagement ring 37+ years ago). The sapphire ring is a custom build by my family's jeweler in St. Louis.
They're soldered together because they were made to match up, and I hated that clicky feeling between the rings.
Stand up for something you believe in.
My e-ring is a 3 stone round brilliant cut totaling 1.58 carats. Andy picked it out completely on his own and did an excellent job. The band is make up of 11 smaller round diamonds and is curved to fit around the e-ring. It didn't come as a set and I think it works well together:
I like the detail on the side of the e-ring:
I want a second band for the other side, but I'm having a hard time getting Andy on board.
My rings and Danny's ring: plain white gold bands
My rings are exactly like my mom's rings except for the type of gold. My ring is 1/3 carat round cut diamond solitaire. Nothing fancy because I tend to work with my rings on and didn't want to lose any diamonds or break my ring. So small and simple it is. Picture of my and mom's rings:
Mine is a little different than the wedding pictures- I had both bands replaced after I lost 3 diamonds and they continued to replace them. Its the same style, only has channel setting now vs. pronged settings. The center stone is 1.76 carats with one carat on each band. I love them and cannot wait to get the matching band for the other side!
My engagement ring and wedding band are now soldered together. My e-ring is white gold with a 1.0 carat radiant-cut diamond with alternating channel-set rubies and diamonds on either side. My wedding band has matching channel-set rubies and diamonds. Someday I would like a matching band to go above the e-ring, hopefully as an anniversary band.

DH picked out my engagement ring all by himself with no input from me whatsoever. It's a white gold ring with a .5 carat center stone and 2 side stones in a half-bezel setting. I had a hard time finding a band that would go well with my e-ring, so I ended up buying the same semi-mount and making it into a band. The center stone of my wedding band is the diamond from my grandmother's engagement ring. She died in a fire before I was born and I've always thought of her as my guardian angel. I think it's fitting that a part of her is always with me.
My rings aren't soldered together because I could never decide whether to do it or not. I'm glad they're not together because lately I've only been wearing my band to work since sometimes my e-ring gets caught in my gloves and it makes me insane and paranoid.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
Scott picked the e-ring out all by himself (so proud!). The center stone was his grandmothers, it's just over a carat. The side stones (a baguette, then a round stone, hard to see in the pic) are just under a carat total weight (e-ring was right at 2 carats TW). Don't remember the sizes of the stones in my wedding band. Band is 3 baguettes.
Mine are soldered together - the band was designed to mimic my ering, and I knew it would drive me crazy if those stones weren't lined up all the time. I'm anal that way...
My rings are Martin Flyers. H picked out my E-ring at some point after I'd told him I liked 3 stone settings with embellishments on the side. It's not 100% what I would've picked out on my own, but I love it because H put a lot of thought into it and I think it has a pretty vintage look to it. It has a .5 carat center stone with two .25 carat side stones and has a diamond shank with beaded milgrain. The wedding band matches. I had them soldered together, but they don't fit together perfectly. Fortunately you can't really tell. I'd love to get the third band as an anniversary gift someday, I think it'd really complete the set.
Glen picked out my e-ring and it was a total surprise. I absolutely love it! I have really small fingers and didn't want anything too overbearing.
The story with my ring is that Glen ordered a specific diamond for the center stone and the manufacturer sent a stone that was of the highest quality/clarity by accident. They gave him the "new" center stone for the price of the one he meant to order.
I took this photo recently after getting my new macro lens.
i cant get a pic with my phone that does it justice. Andy picked it out all on his own. the only parameters i gave him were not a solitaire and not yellow gold. he also knew that i liked the antique look. we never once went shopping together, and i think he did a great job!
this is the stock photo from Simon G. it has filigree on the underside of the setting and there are 8 tiny diamonds on the underside of the setting as well.
this is a photo from the wedding. Andys also has filigree on the edges and matches mine. since this photo i have had my e-ring and wedding ban soldered together.
I have a 3 stone band that CB picked out all on his own. The center stone is about .75 carat and each side stone is about .5 carat. My wedding band is soldered to it because I wouldn't ever wear it just buy itself because a) I love my e-ring too much and b) it was custom designed to fit with my e-ring and it would drive me nuts if they weren't perfectly matched up at all times. TW is about 2 carats.
While I absolutely love my rings, I would rather AW CB's ring. His grandpa died 15 yrs ago and after he passed on, no one knew what happened to his ring. Wasn't on his finger at the time he died and not in any of his drawers, etc. When they sold his grandma's house 10 yrs later, they went through boxes of his things and found a wooden box with his purple heart and a few photos from his time in the army. There was an envelope in the box, and written across the seal was "everything in this box belongs to CB". In the envelope was the wedding band. No one, not even his grandma, knew this was coming. The only time CB cried on our wedding day was when I put the ring on his finger. His grandparents would have celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary the year we got married.
Here they both are:
I just took this with my phone, so it's not the greatest picture.
My e-ring is just a round solitaire and I think it's just under 2 carats with a platinum band.
The wedding band is also platinum with 5 stones..I have no idea what size/total they are.
The two rings aren't soldered together which is slightly annoying because they do move a little bit.
I keed, I keed...although, Doug did ask if he could trade wedding bands for this one. haha
Here they are. Please ignore the fact that you can tell Doug's ring is like 4 sizes too big and that my rings are on the wrong way. We had a huge debate with friends at the wedding about how the rings are suppose to be worn. I listened to the wrong friends. haha
I don't know much about specifics. I know that my e-ring is 1ct TW and it's 3 stones. I forget how many cts the wedding band is. Maybe 1/4?
2 karats total - 1 on the e-ring, 1 on the wedding band. White gold.
The center stone of my e-ring is just over a carat and the diamonds on the sides go half way around the band...I don't know their weight. All of my rings are platinum.
My favorite thing to tell people about my ring is that Josh picked it out all by himself...and I think he did a fantastic job! I love it.
Here's a pic I took in my car recently. Josh got me the 2nd diamond band this past Christmas. Both bands have diamonds all the way around, but again I don't know the weight. None of them are soldered together and I like it that way:)

Mine's horribly filthy right now - yuck!
But it's just over a carat with 8 smaller diamonds on either side. My wedding band matches and has 10 small diamonds.
Both rings are platinum.

Okay, so here's the only pic of my actual rings that I have available, seeing as how I'm not wearing them because they STILL DON'T FIT.
So since you can't really see them, this is the most simliar I could find to my e-ring, except mine has 4 prongs instead of 6.
And this is the closest I could find to my band, except that all my stones are round instead of the sapphires being marquise.
It drives me absolutely crazy that my photog didn't get a pic of our rings on the wedding day. Mine is a Leo from Kays. Robin picked it out all by himself. He kept trying to talk rings, but I didn't want to know, so I just said go simple, which is what he did.
A terrible self portrait
Kevin's
My E- ring is 1 carat princess cut solitaire. I absolutely love it. My band is a wrap totaling 1/2 carat. They're soldered together.
Kevin's ring is Tungsten and Sterling with 8 diamonds in the middle.
ETA: Kevin picked out my ring on his own as well. It was a complete surprise when he proposed and I was thrilled that he got the ring the exact way I would've had I picked it myself. It is a flawless diamond which mattered more to me than the size. (That part he knew bc I was working at a jewelry store when we met). Also it is a cathedral setting
:Blog:
It's funny - I was able to remember all these details about the ring during wedding planning, but now I can't remember! I had my e-ring band changed since I didn't like it and love the new one. I think the center stone is a little over a carat? Both bands are platinum and they aren't soldered together. I love it that way.
I wish I had better close up pics, stupid photog didn't take one.
It's based off of this except I have a princess cut diamond center
My wedding band has pave set round diamonds that go a little more than halfway around the band:
I don't have anything that has both where you can see them together clearly
I love my e-ring and band. H designed it on his own and we picked out the band together. My ring is 1.5 carats (1 carat center stone, 1.5 with the 20 side stones). My band is just a thin band that mimics the side of the e-ring.
(please excuse my chubby fingers, they are still a little swollen from the baby)
The e-ring is (I think) a 1/2 carat sapphire, emerald cut with two smaller emerald cut sapphires on the side. There are teeny tiny little diamonds in the "collar" around the center stone. The wedding band is white gold with 1/2 carat of diamonds.
The wedding band was actually my first e-ring. I chose it so I could wear a ring while working. A few months later, I told Steve I wanted a "real" engagement ring, I picked this one, and...there it is. I always wanted a sapphire engagement ring, I don't know why.
Riss- I think my original set was exactly like yours... I had to have mine channel set but its still my favorite.
I'm a bit late, but I wanted to post because I actually have a new story, as of yesterday.
Clint chose my rings all by himself, and he is excellent at choosing jewelry! I never would have expected it, but he seems to know exactly what I like. My rings are part of a set, they're new but they look old because of the nice filigree on the side of the e-ring. love! They're platinum with a 1 carat diamond and 4 diamond "chips" on the e-ring and 7 "chips" on the wedding band. The best part is he got a really good deal on them so they weren't ridiculously expensive.
My new story is: yesterday in a hotel in Fort Wayne, IN, the morning after we went to the Vera Bradley sale, I lost my rings. Normally I take them off at night and put them on when I get dressed, but when staying in a hotel I just leave them on. I took them off to put on lotion after my shower... and totally forgot to put them back on. My parents and I had a crazy long (it seemed like hours, it was probably 10 min, tops) search for them. I almost cried when my dad found them when he shook out the bedspread from my bed. phew!
