I am tired therefore irrational.

I really just do not understand why SOME people have a hard time putting sh!t back where they found it.  Like, the scoop that belongs in the dog food.  The TV control.  The Direct TV channel listing guide.  Clothes.  I walk into my bedroom and sh!t is strewn everywhere. Every piece of furniture is, apparently, a place to lay clothes.  Even in our closet, I have a jewelry armoire and someone has his clothes laying all over it.  Dirty clothes are ON the hamper and not IN it. At least the clothes are in the closet, I guess.  Dirty clothes all over our bathroom - we have workers in and out of our house all day - this is the bathroom they use - how hard is it to put the damn clothes in the hamper???

I have about 100 other gripes for today but I think I will stop with this one.

Re: I am tired therefore irrational.

  • I'm pouring you a yummy drink, too. *clink*
  • I feel your pain! We do our own laundry, so  J will do his laundry but his clean laundry never leaves the laundry room. He just gets dressed in there, I think. We've seriously contemplated putting a washer/dryer in our master closet (it'd be really easy to put a stackable one in there) but I'm afraid that'd just make it worse.
  • I live with a person who has a disorder that makes it pretty much impossible for him to put things away in the right place. I have learned to live with it, and have even picked up that habit myself. You would probably hate living with me.

I do get a little perturbed when I can't find my tongs, though. He puts them in a different place every single time.

  • Yep. I agree. I started hiding dh's things. When it was time for them I would always say (rather cryptically) "did you put them were they were supposed to go"? He has gotten 80% better but we still have moments...

  • Must be a guy thing.  We've been having the same fight over this at least once a week for the last couple months.  They just weren't programmed well.

  • I can absolutely relate. Especially the clothes ON the hamper... I mean, really?!
  • The other thing? I woke up this morning (we didn't carpool today so the person that shall remain nameless had already left for work) and every.single.drawer in our bathroom was wide open.  Now, I am not sure WHY he had to get in every drawer but I am especially baffled as to why he was unable to close them.  Every drawer of his in the dresser was hanging open and multiple cabinets in the kitchen were also flung open. W.T.F.

Stupid, but not a good way to start the day.....(esp since I was wore out and tired anyway)

  • Can I just say that this thread cracked me up? I can TOTALLY relate. I've never considered myself a 'neat freak,' but adjusting to married life has been a challenge. Empty yogurt containers in the sink; random dirty forks in the office; trash taken out, but no bag put back in; laundry done, but left in the dryer for the wrinkles to fully take hold; etc., etc. I've gotten to the point where, 90% of the time, I just let it go. But if I'm having *one of those days*, watch out.

Drawers and cabinets left open drive me absolutely insane. Especially when they're left open just a few inches, so I know DH semi-tried to close them, but was too lazy (or just inattentive? oblivious?) to do it completely.

  • Girl I can totally relate to all your complaints! I just want to take my H into the bedroom and show him that it is just as easy to close a drawer as it is to open it, the same with closing doors AND putting clothes in the hamper. I go through my house I don't know how many times a week just picking up his crap he has left laying around. It seriously want to make him a daily chores list just as if he was a child.

  • Men! I'm not a neat-freak by any means, but good gravy! One of the things that makes me absolutely crazy is when H gets off work, he goes to the couch, strips to his underwear and leaves all of his work clothes, shoes, id badges, etc right there next to the couch, which is essentially right in the middle of our living room. Every day. And, THEY STAY THERE!

That. And the kitchen cabinets left wide open. I always know when H has been in the kitchen. I don't think it's physically possible for him to close a cabinet door.

Me too. I'm far more destructive than H ever thought about being!

  • On top of not putting things back where they belong, laying clothes all over the place, and not closing cabinet doors or drawers, I'm going to add dishes to the list.  BF eats salsa every single day of his life.  And every single day I find a random red-crusted plate or bowl somewhere in the house.  I hate dried on food.  If you can't clean it, can you at least stick in the sink and do a two second rinse?  I guess not if you can't even close the cabinet door where the salsa came from.

Do it! My husband will not do chores unless I leave him a list. He always says he doesn't know what needs to be done (as if you can't see the pile of dishes in the sink!). But if he has a list he likes to check everything off. Whatever it takes to get him to help out!
