seriously...drugstore make-up is getting ridiculously expensive

i bought some powder foundation and some blush. my total was $20. but that was AFTER a coupon, and after their buy one, get one 50% off special. seriously? $15 each for drugstore make-up? i know you can spend A LOT more than that elsewhere, but when i go to a drugstore i kind of expect cheap make-up. is there an ingredient shortage i'm not aware of? especially because it seemed like a few months ago it was like $10, which i thought was highway robbery. the make-up i bought was loreal. but everything was pretty much $13, $14 or $15. wow.

  • go to Target! It's usually $1-3 cheaper per item than our drugstores here. But yes, it is ridiculously expensive. I think L'Oreal is one of the nicer drugstore brands, so it will be more pricey but still, those prices are pretty close to what I pay at the make-up counter in Macys.

exactly! i haven't bought dept store make-up in awhile because i can no longer afford it, but jeesh i feel like i'm not saving as much anymore by going to the drugstore.

i'll try target next time if i remember. i don't go that often because it's not very close.

  • I only buy drugstore if it's "worth it". Like my mascara and eyeshadow are $5. If I'm going to spend closer to $10-$15 I just get the department store version.

I read an article somewhere about makeup really being all the exact same stuff. It was interesting.

  • I suggest WalMart or Target as well. I really try and stay away from the drugstore b/c their prices are so rediculously more expensive than Target/WallyWorld.

yeah, i used to be a big estee lauder girl but i tend to agree with the experts that there is no difference. or not enough for the huge bump in price.

  • I've only ever bought drugstore makeup. Aside from a one time trip to MAC where I spent way too much and fell in love with it. But otherwise I shop for my makeup at Target and WalMart. Def cheaper than drugstores, even tho it all seems to be getting more and more expensive. :-/
