DH and I were out shopping last night and saw that the ON in the Western Hills Plaza closed. We couldn't believe it. It just said thank you for the past 10 years and to visit there other locations.
Has anyone else heard about this? Anyone know why they closed?

We were over at Glencrossings to hit up Izzy's on St. Patrick's Day and parts of that strip mall were a ghost town! I asked the lady at Izzy's what was going on and she said exactly what pp mentioned - that rents had been jacked way up and so tenants were closing or moving elsewhere.
That's so tragic to me b/c it seemed like the West side worked so hard to get cleaned up and attract those businesses in the first place.
1) I envy you. I soooo wanted some Izzy's on St. Patty's day and to my demise the closest one to me was in West Chester and I didn't feel like driving 20 mins each way.
2) Glencrossing has been a ghost town for a number of years...like...at least 10 that I can remember. I feel like you can only raise rent if there's a big demand for the space. Unfortunately many of the plazas on the west side are very empty

I'm sad about ON but super excited Michael's is going there! The west side has so many EMPTY strip malls yet they keep builiding new building and more strip malls. I just don't get it.
I agree, but traffic is such an enormous pain in the a$$ at Rookwood!!
I worked for Old Navy and they closed becuase the lease was up and Michaels out bid Old Navy and Old Navy was planning on down sizing and the people that they lease from didn't like that...by the way, they have been looking for a place to relocate!
That guy is such an a$$ and I hope he gets the bad karma that's coming to him... He's ruining the West Side for his own financial gain, and while it's sad to see some places go, I'm glad that they are standing up and not succumbing to his greedy demands! It's just plain ridiculous at this point! I don't understand how he thinks owning a bunch of empty buildings is better than having tenants!
