Teach me how to stay calm and bite my lip

We're going to my grandmothers tonight for Seder # 1 and then to my sisters in laws for dessert.

Grant me the serenity to bite my lip and not have hormonal outburst if my grandmother pisses me off....

Re: Teach me how to stay calm and bite my lip

  • My normal tactic for this is alcohol, but that obviously won't work.

My back up tactic is to shove some food in my mouth every time I want to say something bad.  Would this work?  Go to the bathroom a lot?

  • I'm the worst at this, even pre-pregnancy. I'm sorry, I'm no help.

Maybe help out in the kitchen or cleaning up dishes. Keep volunteering to not be in the same room as her.

  • Eating check.

    Bathroom check.

Marcy, same with me. It's even worse now. I have to also tell Justin to bite his lip. They have polar opposite political views...

Cleaning up may not be an option...I think she thinks since I am pregnant I am crippled.

  • I would also drink a lot (water, juice, tea, whatever) just to make me have to pee a lot and go to the bathroom.  It's a win-win!

  • Just tell yourself that she's old and senile, so she doesn't know what she's saying. I do this with DH's oldest grandma who has zero filter.

This is what I do. Rodgers kind of does this with the teenage girls he works with. He's always reminding his coworkers that the residents are mentally ill, so there's no sense getting upset with them.
