I don't even know where to start, so I'll just go at it with my randomness.
First off, as a whole I loved the series. Definitely worth reading! I'm now wondering WTF I can start reading to keep me as entertained and excited. The action is pretty much non-stop!
I think I pretty much understood everything that happened, JJ and I would talk it over every few days and discuss what was going on. I was a little confused towards the end with the Horcruxes (the one inside Harry, the baby thing, etc), but he explained it a little and now I get it. I am surprised not as many important people died because I remember people saying JK Rowling starts killing people off left and right. I never thought Harry would die, even the Kings Cross chapter when he's speaking with Dumbledore I knew he wasn't dead for some reason (that's where JJ told me he thought Harry died). However, I didn't believe Dumbledore was actually dead at the end of 6, then when he was put in the tomb I believed it.
I think I'm generally good at spotting couples, so I mentioned to JJ from Book 1 that I thought Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione would pair up. Yay! And I kept saying all along that I knew Snape was really loyal to Dumbledore, I just didn't know why. However, I do think that if he didn't love Lily, he would have turned bad and been a real Death Eater in a second. I think he had a badness at his core, but loved her too much to let that take over. I think he enjoyed torturing Harry and seeing him suffer at times, but in the end he did what was right out of his love. Snape might have been my favorite character, good with a bad edge.
I though the epilogue was a little cheesy, but gave closure. I could have had it end where it did without that and been happy. I am sad most over Dobby and Hedwig, and bawled my eyes out watching the movie last night when Dobby died.
I think JK Rowling is seriously a genius for intertwining the 25 plots and the foreshadowing from the get go. I'm really, honestly amazed by that the most. It's such thoughtful literature.
My one gripe is I really wanted her to have sort of retaliation happen to Umbridge, like have her write with the magical quill about what a horror she is. I'm a little bummed about that one. I hate her more than any other character! Also, Bellatrix (actress) is seriously BSC and the casting in the movies was top notch.
That is all
Can't wait for the last movie! Just wish so much wasn't cut out in them. Especially in 7 how Lupin visits to join them, and tells them of the pregnancy. And also, how he gives Kreacher the other locket, which makes him loyal to Harry.
Now, what to read...what to read... (after Seductive Poison, of course)
Re: All finished with the HP Series and movies! (spoilers)
also, I PPH Neville. He's JJ's favorite character.
and I'm glad the Malfoy's were spared, but did suffer a little under Voldemort, and ended up helping Harry in the end.
I mother effing hated the epilogue. It was my least favorite part of the entire series and I was legitimately angry with JK Rowling for adding that for about a month after finishing the last book. Like I would think about Harry and Ron at the train station seeing their respective kids off to Hogwarts in the sunset and I would get furious.
ITA. That took so.much.work. It's like what LOST should have been, you know? But the writers let the 5,621,842 storylines get filmed before wrapping them up. Fuuk JJ Abrams, they should have hired JK Rowling. lol
I think I read/heard somewhere that JK Rowling essentially wrote the storyline in her head backwards before she even put pen to paper... She'd be thinking about it for YEARS before she started... Maybe that's how she kept everything organized.
Dobby & Hedwig broke my heart. I remember crying over Hedwig. I knew I would be pissed if they left Dobby's funeral out of the movie, so I'm glad they didn't. I was really pissed that they left out friendly Kreacher from the movie because I really wanted to see him serving them food, cleaning, etc.
Oh and where the fuuck was Dumbledore's funeral? Hmmmm?!
& I really need to read Deathly Hallows again.
