Royal Wedding

A lot of people (ok, women) on my facebook feed are super-excited about this. I heard on the radio that some people are taking off work and planning watching parties.

I am interested on a basic, oh I like weddings-level, but not obssessed. What do you guys think about it?

Re: Royal Wedding

  • I have a couple people on my fb who are doing watching parties as well but I fall in with you.  I will dvr it and watch it but thats about it.
  • A watching party?  You have GOT to be kidding me.

    I think it's neat, don't get me wrong....but I don't really understand the hype.

ETA:  When is the wedding, anyway?

  • I'm excited! I won't be working that day anyway, so as long as I'm at home I'll be watching the coverage all day. But we might go to the Bluebonnet Trail in Ennis, in which case, I'll DVR it.

ETA: If I had thought of it earlier, I probably would have done a watching party, only because it would make a super cute theme, and I love theme parties.

  • Tiffany - this month - I think the 24th?  Idk.  I may DVR it, but there's no way I'm getting up at whatever time in the morning to watch a wedding. I'm sure it will be just as pretty when I finally get around to watching it - if I actually DVR it.
  • I mean, I want to see it... of course.  But I'm not like overly-annoyingly excited about it.  And frankly, I'm getting tired of all of the "what designer" and "what hairstyle" and "what music" talk... over it.
  • It's the 29th. And now I'm a little embarrassed to be excited. Although I will say, I don't talk about it on FB or anything.
  • I was hoping that I wouldn't have a TAKS assignment for next Friday so that I could sit in my room and watch while I work.  Unfortunately, I got an assignment.  Yay me.  I might not watch it if I can't watch it live.
  • I am not interested in watching at all.  People.com will provide me with all the information that I need...like pics of her dress, blurbs on who was there, if there were any wedding day bloopers.

  • I'm excited, but more just because I just got back from London and while I'm watching I can think "I was there! I know where they are!" haha.

  • I think I want to see it more because I remember watching his mother and his aunt get married.  Plus he's my brother's age.
  • What channel is it on??

Every channnel. No joke. ABC is doing an 8 hour Good Morning America special, NBC and CBS are doing the same. BBC America has all day coverage - commercial free. CNN has someone doing live coverage...

  • That reminds me of someone's siggy on TK that I loved. With a picture of Kate saying "what? Your wedding isn't a national holiday?" I think it was Wendi.

  • I'm excited and DH has already said he knows I'll record it and watch part of it.  I just want to see parts of it.  I just really like weddings!

PS according to all the magazines on the shelf at Wal-mart last night she is already pregnant.  Believe what you will but thought it was funny that US Weekly, Star, and Life & Style all had something about it.

  • Ha I'm excited too, but not to the point of "watch parties".  I'm off that day also and will probably watch most of it.  If I don't then I will definitely DVR it.
  • I'll probably tape and watch it.

We will be leaving for Sedona that day and my sister actually talked about trying to find a way to watch it when we get there.  I think it will be over though.

Same here...we don't have DVR yet, but I remember my mom talking about when Diana and Charles got married and how big of a deal it was waaaay back then.  It was such a "fairytale" to hear as a kid.  I think it's sort of neat to be able to say to my future kids, "I remember when..."

  • I will probably DVR it and watch it sometime. I just want to see the vows.

  • I definitely want to watch, but will probably just DVR it or have it on in the background when I am working.  I was talking about it the other night and asked my mom if she remembered when Diana's wedding was.  She was like "oh yes, July of '81.  You were a newborn, and I was excited to watch.  I knew you would wake up int he middle of the night and then I could turn it on and watch.  But that was the first night you slept all the way through.  I couldn't decide whether to be happy you slept or sad I missed the wedding."

That family is like a 'fairy tale'.  I'm excited to watch, but would not be into a party or anything like that.
