anyone getting today's groupon?

$40 for a shellac mani/padi at Parisian Nails. I'm thinking about doing it because the shellac stuff is amazing, and just a manicure is $38 at the salon I just got a regular mani at. But, I've never been to this place so I'm not sure.

Re: anyone getting today's groupon?

  • I'm definitely tempted but I don't need a manicure. It would be a waste for me. I really need a pedi though. I've been dying to get one.

  • I was thinking about going for it right before I go up to Cincinnati for a wedding and my baby shower. I normally don't ever buy these things, I feel guilty!

  • I'm the same way. I don't splurge on stuff like this often so I shouldn't feel guilty when I do but I can't help it.

  • Make sure they're using high quality shellac. I recently got a shellac manicure and wrote about it in my blog under the beauty tags. It really did last 14 days, but in the end removal was awful and it ruined my nails almost as bad as acrylics. The duration of the manicure was awesome, but the after sucked.

Did you remove it at home, or go to the salon?

The place I went to uses OPI and they have you come back 14 days later to have it removed as part of the manicure. Not sure about the groupon place.

I removed it at home with a 100% acetone soak. If I get it done again I'm going to an OPI salon, so that should help.

  • I got one of these for a wedding a few weeks ago and it was awesome.  Lasted forever and then I just peeled them off and my nails were fine.
  • wow, you're lucky, LB!

Mine weren't as much of a pain as Laner's, and I'd definitely do them again, but no one actually told me how to take them off, and so when I broke out the nail polish remover and nothing budged, I was a little confused/concerned. lol. I googled it and did the soaked-cotton-ball-wrapped-in-tinfoil-for-10-mins thing and got most of it off that way. I think it was worth it for how great they looked and how long they lasted.
