Re: we don't have a walmart or target near us

  • OMG... how do you survive?? lol

I avoid Walmart at all costs. No matter how nice of an area they are in, the people that are in there skeeve me out. UGH. Plus I think Walmart sucks.

I HEART Target though.. I can go there for shampoo and q-tips and come out $100 later. Every.stinkin.time! I don't know how that happens...

    Poor MD, Stick out tongue

  • after i posted this, i was thinking, i wonder how long it's been since i've been to walmart. i concluded at least 10 years until i remembered that we went to one to get groceries on our honeymoon (we stayed in a condo with a kitchen).

    i love target, too.  :-(

  • It's the same for us. We go to one of the towns that has a target at least once a week though so we shop at Target then. I hate going to WalMart so I avoid it.

  • I don't like shopping at WalMart or Target b/c they can both be nutty but I love them for the discounts and prices. I feel sad for you MD - groceries and household goods are expensive!

really? i'm not lying i swear! the closest targets are in columbia or gaithersburg. my town just doesn't have any big box stores. between here and columbia it's all rural. we have to go to aspen hill (gross) for home depot or kmart. costco and sam's club, etc. are just as far. actually, come to think of it, there is a target in wheaton but that would take probably 15 to 20 min depending on traffic.

  • The closest Walmart and Target are also about 20 minutes away from me. We rarely go to either because of the distance.
  • I love them both and thankfully there are like 6 of each in my city. Knoxville sucks "real" shopping wise, but it's chain store central around here.

We get groceries from Walmart (except produce sometimes b/c it sucks, but we use lots of frozen veggies so it's not a big deal usually).

Target is more of my "fun" place, but I think I go there once a week at least. I was there two days ago paiting test strips of nail polish on my H's nail since I had polish on already. ha!

Dittoooooo. A lot of (ok ALL of) our groceries come from WalMart and Target. Alcohol/wine and produce come from a local grocery. WM andthe grocery are both walking distance from our home (or a two minute drive). Target is currently about 15 minutes away but worth it. A brand spankin new Target is being built and will open in June verrrrrry close to us. Again, walking distance or about a 2-3 minute drive. I am beyond excited about this. Haha.

2 yrs ago when we talked about moving to PA I found out that the nearest Target was like 25 mins and I told H it was a deal breaker. LOL.

We are going to the target that is 4.7 miles from my house in a few mins. I will be thinking of you. Wink
