someone requested an book from me. their requestor conditions:
Excellent Condition - Minimal Damage to Spine & No Bent Cover
No Water Damage or Smoke Smellsso i sent a nasty response back when i denied their request:
"my books are for reading and listening to. requests for books in pristine condition are denied"
rude of me, i guess, but honestly what are these people doing, selling these? sorry. i actually had a request of mine denied last week because the person said "sorry, i have had too many headaches with requestor conditions so i no longer accept requests from people with conditions." and then i realized that my auto condition - for no books from smoking homes - really didn't apply because it was an audio book and not near my nose. so i removed the requestor condition and resubmitted the request. i actually appreciated where the person was coming from though.
i just think these requestor conditions are out of control lately. i'm sorry but for me, as long as i'm not chocking on smoke and the book hasn't been buried in a garden, i'm good. i mean, it is a used book after all! and if you've ever had an audio book you know how flimsy those boxes they come in are - they never stay nice.
hmph.
Re: PBS Vent - you're kidding, right?
but they won't give you the credit! if they get it and it doesn't meet the conditions, they can deny you the credit. i actually had a guy try to pull this on me, and he didn't even have conditions!
Oh man, ridiculous!
Awhile ago I had a person who received a book from me want their credit back, because there was a stain. She sent me a picture, because I couldn't think of any problems with the book.
The stain was a tiny circle, in the right margin between the text and the edge of the page. It didn't impede her ability to read the book. I posted on NBC and showed them the picture she sent me. They all said she was crazy.
So I didn't refund her credit. I'm just pissed that that is the one transaction that isn't "resolved". Oh well.
My Profile
the SAME thing happened to me. in addition to a stain (i got the book FROM PBS in the same condition and didn't even bat an eye. were the pages all there? yes. okay fine). AND the guy complained that it didn't have the dust cover. so i responded and c&p'd PBS' rules where it says you don't have to have a dust cover. then he said it was in his conditions, which it wasn't. finally he was like, well you should email people beforehand to see if it's okay with them before you send a book w/out a dust cover. seriously??? if it's in the rules that you don't have to have one? maybe YOU should put it in your conditions. eventually he gave me the credit but i was so annoyed. he responded like i should be grateful he did it. i didn't even write back.
but honestly, your lady with the tiny stain and this lady with no bent covers, etc., it just makes me wonder what they are doing with these books. giving them as gifts? selling them? because otherwise, why do you care? and like karebear said, buy it at the bookstore then!! good lord.
the smoking thing i understand. and only because i received a smoking book and it was really impossible to read that close to my face. i did air it out though and eventually it was fine, but i added that into my conditions (and it's the only one).
i think if this happens again i'm just going to write:
"declined for unreasonable conditions"
