Visiting Baltimore

Hi Ladies! DH and I are visiting Baltimore this weekend for a little get away. We're staying in the Inner Harbor area. Can anyone provide any suggestions for a nice restaurant and some fun things to do in the area during the day??

TIA!

Re: Visiting Baltimore

  • I usually take any family that come to visit out to Fort McHenry. We do the fort, and then relax in the park area for a bit (read, picnic, etc).

  • It would be fun (depending on the weather) to take the water taxi to various neighborhoods (downtown/Inner Harbor/Fells Point).  Fells Point has lots of little shops and places to eat.   Federal Hill is another area with shops, which also has lots of places to eat.  The Orioles are playing this Yankees this weekend too, which would be fun!

  • As far as food, anywhere in Little Italy would be great!

  • I agree with what PP said about just walking around (depending on weather).  There are so many neat stores in Fells Point and Federal Hill.  I could walk around there all day.

  • Ditto PPs about walking around. You can get to a lot of places from the Inner Harbor. Water taxis are great too; I think it's like $8 a day to ride anywhere you want. You can take it to Fort McHenry which is really nice.

The Charm City Circulator is a free bus with 2 routes around town, both of which are easy to pick up in the Inner Harbor area (www.charmcitycirculator.com). There are maps with points of interest along the routes both on the website and in the buses themselves.

Federal Hill is just south of the harbor with lots of great restaurants/bars and a great park that overlooks the water. It's an easy walk (10 minutes probably). Fells Point is a bit further but accessible via water taxi. Also lots of great places to eat/drink.

    Have fun!

Camden Yards does a ballpark tour.  It's a lot of fun if you're a baseball fan.  I think the times are different on game days, so check before you go.

Top of the World observation deck is also pretty cool.  Fort McHenry is fun too.

  • Thanks so much for all the replies! We have tickets to the Orioles/Yankees game on Sunday, which is actually what prompted the trip, but you ladies have given me a lot of other great ideas for the weekend! Thanks again!!
