Did Anyone Get a Refund?

If so, what are you planning on spending it on?

B and I got a small refund this year, and I think we will probably use it on our upcoming trip to go to a fancy dinner.

Re: Did Anyone Get a Refund?

  • Nope.  I wish we got a refund, but DH's ex took both children on her return, and we owed federal.  We got a small state refund, but it still hurt the checkbook.

  • No. Sad In fact we owed way to much.

  • Yes, it is already gone though. We paid off a credit card, and bought some much needed things for the boys.

  • We get a refund from state that will end up in our savings to make up for the amount we sent out because we owed federal. terrible terrible year for us in regards to taxes.

  • We got a refund from federal and had to pay state.

We're going to use our refund to get our house painted and our sprinkler system fixed.

  • We had a fairly big return so we paid off our tv and some other debts then saved the rest for bills for the month. Russ is in school all month so we needed to have some money saved for it.

  • Bahahhahhahhahaaa..... money back??  hehe.

Sorry.  Derek isn't very good with planning for taxes.  He doesn't pay any tax through the year, so we'll end up owing a LOT.

Kyle does this too. He puts money aside every month for taxes and puts it into a savings account, but he doesn't actually pay any taxes until we file. We always owe.

  • We're slackers and haven't done them yet (get an automatic extension by living overseas).  I'm hoping we don't owe anything, but given some of the funky rules of the tax treaties, I'm not positive about that.

  • We got a refund; we paid for half of our Cancun vacation with it.
  • Ha, yeah right. We owed over 8K.  Luckily we had set aside money for most of it already, but we (as in, H) really need to be better about paying quarterly next year.

Luckily, thanks to our new tax person, we qualified for WAY more deductions than we thought we would, so we actually owed a lot less than expected! So we're treating ourselves to a little trip to southern Florida next weekend anyway Cool

  • Nope, we owed too...not too terribly much, but it still sucks.  Oh well...

  • We got a small refund and put it in our savings. It will sit there until we need it.

  • We got a pretty decent refund thanks to some tuition reimbursements and house interest. It will go into savings for a rainy day. We don't normally spend them on anything extravagant.

I remember when DH used to try to pay quarterly. Taxes were a nightmare.

Yeah, Derek doesn't put any money away.  He will be starting now though.

  • We're getting about 1100$ back (way down from last year), and it's going into the "we want to buy a house" fund.
  • We got a small refund, I was actually expecting a bit more since we spent a lot of money on school.

Anyways, we used our refund to book our flights to D.C. for our summer vacation.Travel

  • We did.  We put it right into the baby fund.  We're old and boring like that.

  • We got refunds back from federal and state. Enough to buy living room and dining room furniture for our new house, which is what we did :)

  • We did.  H only got about $300 but I got $1800.  Went right into savings.

  • We got a pretty big refund, but our closing and moving costs were a little more than anticipated so it's going back into the savings that we had drawn from.

We usually get a big refund because I always maximize my retirement contributions. (I know it's not the smartest way to go but honestly, I like that big deposit every spring!) And V has a lot of tuition credits now so we'll probably be getting decent refunds over the next couple of years, lol.
