f/u My sisters wedding

She heard back from her immigration lawyer who simply said "It doesn't look like July 9th is going to happen" Crying

Which sucks in 1000 ways. But what can you do? My Mom and sister are in Seattle now doing the tasting for the venue... They said they can move the date and not lose any money, so that's good.

My sister is a teacher and was really wanting it to happen in summer so they could spend time after the wedding with all the friends/family that are making the trek in from New Zealand.

We have NO idea when the paperwork will come in and we can start the next phase and pick a date. We know that my SIL and I will not be able to travel anytime after July 9, so if/when it does come in they will aim for the fall and I guess we will be bringing newborns (which is honestly fine with me.. I'd rather bring a newborn than a 10 month old on a schedule!)

This is SO frustrating. Either way, my sister made the decision to spend the summer in NZ so at least her and her FI can be together for a bit!

Re: f/u My sisters wedding

  • Obviously I don't understand.  But why does the wedding have to be after they get the paperwork sorted out?
  • Oh man! That's great that she won't lose any money on her venue. I hope they can get it worked out to a time that they are able to spend time with everyone coming from out of the country. Sorry it didn't work out for July!

Just the way immigration is set up.Paperwork has to be approved and then he can come to the US on a fiance visa and they have 90 days to get married.

I can appreciate the law and I DONT think it should be easy to marry someone from another country so they can get a green card... HOWEVER what piises me off is it is NOT the same for everyone. Example: all the Mexican women who cross the border and have a baby in a US hospital, that child is immediately a citizen. I think that's totally and completely fvckud up.

  • Thanks for the support and kind words! I just remember how stressed I was planning my wedding.. I can't imagine what she's going through.. not only this added crap but he's not even close that they can even talk all the time (NZ is 15 hours ahead of us.. makes finding a time to talk/skype difficult!)

I do believe things all work out the way they were meant to be... so hopefully we will know something soon!
