Do you do annual flowers every year? Have you done them yet?
I did mine this past weekend- now I have flowers everywhere. So beautiful!
I try to plant something new (never tried before) every year until I exhaust everything that appeals to me. This year I'm trying Ageratum and New Guinea impatiens.

Re: Do you do annual flowers every year? Have you done them yet?
I try to build my garden with most perrentals for budget reasons. I find that perennials don't always have the pop of color that I want so I will put in a few annuals in particular spots in the garden. For the sun drenched corner, new guinea impatiens in that deep fuchsia and that bright coral are favorites.
This is exactly what I do: annuals in containers all over the place.
I have hanging baskets around the porch, planter boxes sitting on top of the deck rails, and haystack troughs mounted on the fence.
I usually plant between 1.5-2 flats of annuals every year but never really have a chance until sometime in May (and with how the weather has been here lately, it'll definitely be into May before the weather cooperates!)
I usually do Impatiens, Voilas (if I can find them), Lubelia, and petunias. Last year I did Alyssum that did really well.

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
I'm in NJ, and the weather is always unpredictable this time of year, so my hard and fast rule is to wait until Mother's Day to plant annuals. I usually do impatiens in the beds and then something different in the pots - both flowers and grasses.
This year, we're redoing our flower beds, so I'm not sure how many annuals I will get in the ground since we're relocating so much. Not looking forward to the work but looking forward to the end product!
