I'll be getting my MS in psychology next month (WOOOO!), but will be a few credits short of being able to sit for the counseling exam (so that I can practice therapy). So I enrolled in 2 online classes through Walden University--psychopharmacology and health psychology. Holy crap they're so hard! I quit my job in February so I could concentrate on classes (the 2 online and 1 at Loyola), but I'm still super stressed about them. I didn't expect them to be so much more work than in-person classes.
I just wrote 3 single spaced pages for a single discussion topic for one class. I have four main discussion posts, three response posts, and at least 1 paper due each week. So much research! So much writing!
I just can't wait until everything is overrrr.

Re: online classes are hard
I totally agree with you!!! I am pursuing an MBA online through a local accredited university, that also offers face to face MBA.
My husband is finishing his MBA a different university (face to face) and I swear the work load of my classes is above and beyond his. Worst off I dont feel like I am learning like he is....
Tons of reading, writing, discussion boards, but hardly any lecture or networking. I'm a terrible writer and I am with you it is insane how much is due each week! Its as if they feel they need to assign you more busy work. As far as an MBA goes their is a huge difference in face to face vs distance and i was honestly sold on the fact that b/c my university had both that it would be no different... big fat lie!
Keep up the good work, it will pay off!
I've heard that online classes are harder than face to face. I've had friends and family take online classes and they are always doing long extended projects. Maybe its proving knowing the material. In class you can discuss things in real time versus having to post on certain topics. IDK just a thought.
On another note, congrats on being so close to your goal! That's at least an exciting part to focus on when classes get overwhelming!
... every single day of forever.
I work for an online university that also offers face-to-face classes and is part of the state system of MD. I took a 6 credit graduate class, and I was amazed at how much more work it was than any face-to-face Master's class I took. I don't think people realize how much more work is involved. Personally, I prefer f2f classes because I am a visual and aural (sound/hearing) learner. I can learn by reading and writing, but it takes me more time. I also don't think alot of people realize that if you do not learn well by reading and writing an online class is NOT for you.
Oh and it's great that you are so close to finishing!
I'm still trying to decide which is the better choice:
commuting an hour, find parking, take the shuttle to campus, sit through lecture, wait for the shuttle, then commute an hour home
OR
a crap-ton of research, writing, and discussion
...
It's been 7 weeks, and I still can't decide.
