Toddler shoes? Where...

WHere do you get shoes for your kids?

G's first real pair are from Stride Rite (sneakers) and I want to get him a pair of casual dress shoes that would be more appropriate for church, etc.  I wasn't crazy about Stride Rite's selection for them but do want to get him decent, supportive shoes.

I know Marshalls Shoe MegaShop has toddler sizes, has anyone bought there?  Anywhere else I should look?

  • I always had better luck at the stride rite outlet at woodbury. They had a better selection then the mall stores.  Other then that i can't help I only bought at stride rite until he was about 5.

  • Before A was really walking we bought a pair from Target. It was a plain brown shoe. You should definitely be able to find something there. They did the job! I also purchased a pair from Stride Rite on clearance-$25! I don't know if I would spend 45 like they normally charge.

I know, it kills me since they wear them such a short amount of time.  But, they are great quality.  When I drove by yesterday I saw they were having a BOGO50% off sale.

For dress shoes I'm definitely willing to go on the cheaper end since he will wear them very little. His sneakers get a lot of hard, everyday wear so, spending on those makes more sense for the support and the quailty.  For as hard as he plays at the parks, I figured the sneakers we got him would be scuffed and beat up by now (New Balance) but, nope, after a full month they still look like brand new.

  • I like Drew's Stride Rites but he also has Puma's and a pair of converse like sneakers from Crazy 8. Ive seen cute dress shoes at Childrens Place, Gap, Crazy 8, Old Navy and Gymboree.

I have a Crazy 8 Coupon for $10 off and Craxy cash that might still be good, its yours if you want it.

  • ive gotten shoes for sue from the marshalls in ossining.  some of the shoes there are good and some are cheap.  but it's worth looking b/c they carry a variety of shoes, even stride rite brand.  otherwise, gap, childrens place, i even bought a pair of dress shoes from payless once.  otherwise i like the department stores when they have sales.  there is also a european kids shoes place in the palisades i saw the other day and they were having a sale.

  • The flash sale websites have great shoes.  I bought Jack a pair of European shoes with nice support/padding months ago but in big size, so now they fit and are too cute (Easter Egg hunt pics on fb he has them on).

Otherwise he has real Converses I bought at a Navy Exchange on base back in September for cheap and nonwalking.

There is the Marshalls in Bedford Hills for shoes I have gotten him stuff there, also there is the Preppy Turtle in Bedford Hills in train parking lot that has all designer used baby/kid clothing.

  • If you are coming up to middletown way there is a small, family run shoe store that is closing that has great deals on everything, including stride rite shoes.  Its called Groo's Shoes.  It should still be open, but I don't know how much they have left.
  • Thanks everyone!!!  I found him a pair of Keen sandals for the summer at Shoe MegaShop and a pair of casual dress shoes at Carter's.

FYI - the Stride Rite on Central Ave in Yonkers is an OUTLET!!!!  I'll be there often, I think.  They just didn't have any dress shoes right now - mainly sandals.

  • Clarks makes great kids shoes. They are not cheap, but if you get them on sale not too bad. I think the store in White Plains carries kids shoes.
