My nephew is so perfect. It was so hard to get back on the plane to Boston this morning. I'm pretty sure the lady next to me did not appreciate my sobbing on the plane.
Anyone else live far away from family? I'm a family girl through and through so it's killing me!
Re: I'm back from FL!
That's great! I hope you get to see him again soon!
My little sister goes to college in Virginia and hasn't seen DS since early January, but we Skype each other all the time.
Aww, I'm glad you got to spend some time with him, and I hope you get to see him again soon! New babies are awesome. Where in FL are they?
My SIL lives just outside of Tampa with her family (2 girls, ages 3 and 4), and it's rough on my husband. They aren't particularly close (though they get along), and she never comes here to visit with them, so we're virtual strangers to the girls. He wants to try to Skype with them occasionally, now that they're old enough to chat. (His parents do this, and the girls love it.) They're (hopefully) moving to Pittsburgh this fall - his sister got into a phD program at Pitt - so at least it'll be a little easier to visit them.
Edited to say that I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, I swear! I think this is just the dynamic in my husband's family. It doesn't sound like this will be the case for you, since you've already been there! Our oldest niece was 2 before he even made a trip there. And FWIW, this sort of thing wouldn't fly in my family; my brother and I are much closer than my husband and his sister are, and there's no way we'd let this sort of distance keep us from seeing a niece/nephew.
No, no I didn't take it as you being a Debbie Downer at all! DH is not as close to his brother, so I can see that situation happening with that side of the fam. My brother and I are super super close so I have no worries.
And the second DH graduates with his doctorate, we will be finding our way back to FL, if I can help it.
They are actually outside of Tampa, too
In Land-o-Lakes (Lutz area). DH and I went to USF and met in Tampa, so we lived there for 4-5 years, too...and I truly miss it. I had my fill of Chik-fil-a and mom's cooking this weekend, so I'll be good to go for another few months. I just hate the idea of my nephew growing up without me around. We have already skyped with him like 4 times- he was only 3 days old the first time lol.
Oh phew! I re-read my post and thought it may have come across as super dramatical.
And my SIL lived in Land-o-Lakes when she first moved down there, (before I met my husband), but now they're in Wesley Chapel.
Oh that is great that he is so perfect and you had a wonderful time with him! Those early days are so special!
We live near no family at all. Our immediate family is anywhere from Colorado to MO to MA.
