Need downtown restaurant recs

DH and I want to go somewhere we haven't been before on Friday for a date night.  We don't want to go anywhere too expensive.  DH pretty much said, "I want to go somewhere for pizza and a beer."  I don't know if he was being literal or was using pizza as an example of reasonably priced food.  We definitely want to go downtown.  The places we've been are Sundance Grill, XOXO, HopCat, One Trick Pony, Bistro Bella Vita, Boar's Head, the sports bar in Amway, San Chez, Wood's Lounge and all the BOB restaurants.  Thanks in advance!

Re: Need downtown restaurant recs

  • Peppinos downtown is really nice inside and I think has the best pizza.  What about Vitales?  The one I go to is on Leonard so technically not downtown.  It is Italian food and they have pizza.  Very quaint and not like a sports bar like Peppinos.

We've been to that Vitale's a bazillion times.  Peppino's is a good idea, though.  Thanks!

  • If he wasn't being literal about pizza and beer you could try Cinqo de Mayo.
  • Ottawa Tavern?  Good food and good beer on tap.  Or maybe Cambridge House.  Actually, you didn't mention Founders on your list either - great beer and good food there.

Edit - Just remembered Rockwell's/Republic - great food and good beer on tap there too!

  • Brick Road Pizza on Wealthy is one of my favorite restaurants in GR.
  • Awesome Pizza at Georgio''s on Ionia, but no Beer. It is however right next door to hopcat.
