Speaking of Christmas.. I need HELP
The thing that my mom wants most for christmas (and has for years now) is a Gund monkey named Max number 4756. They sold him at FAO for a while and it is now retired. I've tried everywhere to find one! If anyone has one or knows someone that would be willing to part with theirs PLEASE let me know! Thanks a bunch!!
Re: Speaking of Christmas.. I need HELP
I sent an email to a friend of mine who collects monkey stuffed animals. I'll let you know when I hear back from her. I don't know if that particular monkey is part of her "zoo" but I do have to ask...
What's the draw for that particular monkey? I'd love to hear the background behind why that one is so coveted!
There's another monkey by Gund w/ a similar face to the Max. It's the Sketchy Monkey, and is 19" rather than 22-23" that the Max was.
Thanks!
My mom has one that is pretty beat up. She got it on a trip to Vegas with my Aunt and grandmother right after my grandfather died. Since then, ,my parents have toted the silly thing around EVERYWHERE. Ball games, work, parties.Dressed up in occasion appropriate attire. You get the idea. Its like its some weird surrogate child to make up for empty nest syndrome or something. They were recently at a wedding and the father of the groom, who they'd never met, asked why they didn't bring Max. Apparently he's quite the popular monkey.
For a few years now she's been looking for another. She went so far as to call the FAO distribution center after she found out that one of the stores closed. All they knew is that the remaining monkeys went some where, but they don't know, or won't say, where.
Unfortunately, she doesn't have that one. Good luck with your search!
But if you can't get a new one, what about doing a shadow box with your mom's Max? Think that might be something she'd appreciate?
Hi!
I don't know if you are still looking for Max (Gund 4756). I noticed there was one on eBay. Good luck!
