Br: and now we think Grier has a milk protein allergy

Poor thing is a hot mess! She's been super fussy and she's always had issues pooping. And the projectile spit up has been nuts! She doesn't have the typical symptoms, so it's taken a bit to figure it out. I feel horrible, knowing I'm the one that's been making her sick. :(

Re: Br: and now we think Grier has a milk protein allergy

  • Poor thing, I hope you are able to figure something out soon.
  • We went down that same road with Luke... I did continue to nurse him and was able to eliminate his GI symptoms by changing my diet. I am really glad I stuck with it even though figuring out the diet is a challenge at the beginning, in my opinion, it is totally worth doing! Feel free to email me at giffordam@gmail.com if you have questions for someone on the "other side" of protein intolerance! :) Don't feel guilty-- you are doing a great thing for your baby and I am sure you will see improvement as you modify your diet. It does get way easier and you will both make it through! :)
  • I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through that. We went through something similar and it was no fun. Unfortunately for me, even with diet changes and eliminatin of ALL dairy, B still had major projectile vomiting and spit up issues along with rashes and awful congestion. (This leads me to believe that he is intolerant to not just milk protein but soy as well.) I made the difficult decision to stop nursing and switched him to Alimentum which is a formula that has the milk proteins already broken down. He is doing AWESOME on it. Completely different baby. He hasn't vomited once since he has been on it, reflux has improved, no more rashes, only mild congestion now and he's a very regular pooper. :) I have about 400 oz of BM frozen so hope to be able to reintroduce it down the road. Good luck to you and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!
