We are looking at a house that is in the Magruder HS district in MD. Does anyone have any opinions/experiences with this HS? Someone told me she thought Sherwood was probably teh better district to buy in but from the reports I've read on Magruder it seems pretty comparable to Sherwood in terms of test scores and whatnot. Thanks.

Re: Opinions on Magruder HS
I can only tell you it's reputation from 10+ years ago when I went to Sherwood (certainly a lot can change in that time!), and it was perfectly fine. Some schools have a particularly good or bad rap, but that one was okay as far as I know. I have friends that went there and it seems like it was comparable to Sherwood in a lot of ways.
That area of Rockville is fairly nice, although to be honest I think the neighborhoods directly around it have some seriously ugly houses. Personally, I'd rather live in the Sherwood area but that's because I really like Olney.
I could have written this exact post except I graduated almost 20 (gasp!!! really???) years ago from Sherwood. I also prefer Olney over Derwood/Rockville, but that's jmo.
Noooo! You know I wasn't talking about your house.

I like Olney. (I know that's not really helpful... LOL)
Seems like HS rankings can change over time... if the house is for you, I'd be more concerned with the elementary school!
Or, you could just come be our neighbor in Wheaton. Our hub's can sit around and eat queneps together.
My husband would love that!! We had looked at some houses in Wheaton when we looked a few years ago. DH is finishing up a degree at UM Shady Grove so we are trying to stay somewhat close to that area and the current block of the ICC definitely helps in that regard.
