More Sleep Advice Needed

So Lillian finally learned how to roll from back to belly. And she keeps doing it in bed and then getting really mad (even though she can roll from belly to back, she doesn't usually remember that she can do it). So tonight, we've gone in and flipped her over three times and then she just rolls right back onto her belly and starts screaming :( What are we supposed to do? Let her CIO? I don't know what else because flipping her over doesn't work...any tips? I thought we were lucky and weren't going to have to deal with this baby phase. Of course this has to happen when I can't nurse her in the evenings!

Re: More Sleep Advice Needed

  • Well, she finally fell asleep after we flipped her again, so we'll keep trying that, but I would still love to hear if anyone else had to deal with this in case that doesn't work tomorrow night!

  • We had the exact thing happening about a month ago. Felix had totally forgotten that he knew how to go from belly to back. It took a few nights, but he eventually got the hang of it. And we did a ton of practice during the day. Hang in there!

  • Caroline would cry, but only for a few seconds, maybe a minute, and then she'd get over it and fall asleep on her belly. Hopefully, Lillian will get the hang of it and be fine in a couple of days. We didn't go through this either, but they say babies go through this same type of thing when they learn to pull up on the crib. They scream b/c they can't get down. Caroline never minded falling on her bum, maybe b/c of the extra soft padding from the CD hehe
  • Riley would wake 2-3 times a night crying - we'd just flip her and she'd go back to sleep (though a lot of times I had to nurse her back down, this was at 4 months). It lasted not quite a week, then she started sleeping on her stomach.

  • As Meg mentioned, we experienced something similar when Owen started pulling up in the crib in his sleep.  We'd just go in and put him back down, and he'd go back to sleep.  It happened several times a night for a week or so, and then stopped.  It's exhausting, but she'll move past it.
