Hellooooo, is anyone out there?

Why so quiet, ladies?  What are you up to?

I'm just grinding away at my desk, looking for a fun distraction every now and then.  So distract me, d@mnit! :)

Re: Hellooooo, is anyone out there?

  • I'm trying to bang through some work. And I'm starving so it's lunch time soon.

Hmm. I have nothing interesting to say except we are getting our will done. The guardianship of DS was a mess because DH fought me on it. And the dog has more appointed guardians than DS does, if that isn't weird.

She also has a trust set up for her.

It's kind of hilarious, actually, and it sounds exactly like something that would happen in our house.

How's your son doing? Has the Benadryl helped him?

  • He's doing much better, thank you!

Except my math was all off and I gave him a fraction of what he needed last night. But when I called the pedi this morning, he said as long as it helped, no big deal.

1 tsp is 2.5 ml. Not .25! lol

We think it may be the vulli vanilla teethers I just bought him. We're going to try them again tomorrow and see if it happens again!

  • Well, better too little Benadryl than too much, right? :)

I could see why P might have more named guardians than N.  The trust fund is interesting though--moreso if you're leaving him as much as Leona Helmsley left her dog Wink

  • I have some work confessions

    1. I know I'm in HR, but still. I got a script of a termination conversation happening with a very high up this Friday. I know who is getting canned and why. The mistakes they've made, everything. Also, how to handle outside inquiries on why the person is leaving. I let the person know I have it and they sent it to me, but I also saved it so I can have it on hand in case I interview for a position and get asked, "so how do you fire someone?"

    2. 2 of our new HR Gens suck. You can never get a hold of them. They don't return calls. They just suck. I often need Gen support on ER issues that need to be addressed.

And of course it annoys me that they have higher titles and higher pay than me and they suck at communication and I rock at it- I always, always return phone calls.

What really irks me is that if someone can't get ahold of me for 2 hours, they go yelling at my boss about it. Then I am told, "you don't pick up your phone or so and so can't get ahold of you."

It annoys me because guess what? I'm busy too. Plus I'm off site so I'm on the phone ALL DAY LONG talking to people since I can't just walk across the hall to chat.

    The end.

  • I saw your #1 in another confession thread (MM maybe?).  Eh, I would have done the same thing in your position.  You didn't do anything wrong or unethical IMHO.  What I want to know is if anyone else knows that this other HR person accidentally sent it to you--talk about a BIG boo-boo.

    What's ER?  Employee relations?

  • I had a mini photo shoot with DS this morning. Now he's having a bottle, and then I think we'll run to the outlets to look for an Easter outfit for him.

    Yes.

And when I told her, she flipped out because she was like, "OMG thank god it was you" because there are about 10 people with my first name in the company.

  • Working... blah.
  • I'm glad he's doing better, Punky!

I'm so bored. There are probably things I could (should) be doing, but I'm procrastinating. Also, I just got a Skype request from some random guy who came to a program I worked on in 2007. I frequently get Facebook or Linked In requests - which I always ignore - but this is a new way to be annoying, apparently. I forwarded it to my husband, and he is now sending me random photos of people with the dude's last name with "why won't you Skype with me?" as a caption.

    It's passing the time.

  • I am swamped all week because the kids are on vacation.  I have nothing good to share either.  I can't wait for this week to be over.
  • Yay school vacation week! I'm not sure who needs vacation week more, the kids or the teachers.

: ) I spent Monday and Tuesday in NYC with my fabulous sister, and now I'm working in my garden. Just trying to get things cleaned up a bit. I do wish it was a touch warmer!

I'm thinking of heading over to Saus for lunch. I really want to try those fries!

    Have a good day.
