Shoot I am totally psyching myself out
I have my one our glucose at 10:15. Have avoided any of my regular breakfast foods and snacks that are higher in sugar and so far am feeling slightly crappy.
The idea of drinking this stuff is making me feel pukey already. I am so angry at myself for not coming up with better snacks for this morning. Crackers and almonds are not cutting it.
I really hope I don't toss my cookies.
ETA sorry if the 'word' pukey grosses anyone out
Re: Shoot I am totally psyching myself out
Thanks!!
I don't know has come over me, my heart is racing a bit. I am such a dork. LOL
You'll be fine Pookies!
Personally, I don't think any 'tricks' work. I ate oatmeal for breakfast and a salad with chicken for lunch before mine and still had to take the 3 hour.
Dammmmit I should have had my muffin then. LOL
Well it's down and I feel pretty stupid, it was not bad. I actually feel a little better after drinking it though still a little nervous. I really am a dork.
*Dani* beware heartburn is kicking in in less that 5 minutes after.
i actually enjoyed the taste of it. it reminded me of those fruit juice grenade thingys i drank when i was little. of course it was TONS of sugar but they always had a ton anyway.
yeah i don't think NOT eating something would change the outcome. it's HOW your body processes the sugar and breaks it down.

I'm with Summer on this. I didn't eat anything and had to take the 3 hour. I only just passed the 3 hour one without eatting as well. Personally I didn't think the drinks were that bad, but I was starving when I took them so anything would have been fine.

Funny enough the drink really did seem to make me feel better, I must have needed the sugar boost.
My Dr's letter said to try and not drink or eat anything too sugary before hand. Hmmm
Glad you are feeling better.

Thanks ladies!
My weight got brought up.
I wasn't a skinny mini to start with but thought I had been doing so well. They had me at 10 lbs up at my last appt and 18 up today (so 8 lbs in the last month). I think all the milk I have been drinking is catching up to me.
Hugs! At least that's what they're called around here! I used to love those so maybe that's why I didn't mind my orange drink
.
Good luck! It wasn't so bad I really just made myself super parnoid. I think depriving myself of all some of the sugary snacks I eat helped a lot. I eat so much fruit in the morning I was feeling out of sorts.
I had to drink it for my fasting glucose test to see if I had PCOS. It was not great but not terrible.
Hope you get good news from them!

I was given orange the first time and then lime the second time. I also thought that the lime was sweeter than the orange, and assumed it was different do to it being a 3 hour test.

Did they bring up your weight because they're concerned about GD or pre-e or something like that, or just a general "be careful, you're gaining weight?" I'm surprised! I gained 70 lbs and, if I hadn't been asking about how much I gained, they wouldn't have said anything, and never said that it was a problem. Then again, my pregnancy was pretty cut and dry -- I didn't have the same concerns that you have. That sucks (not that you gained it, but that they think it's a problem!)
I think mostly because of the big 'jump' in the last month. She told me that I was still within reasonable weight gain but to monitor what I might be doing. I was up 10 lbs at my last appt (at approx 22 weeks) and up 18 at this one (approx 26 weeks) so 8 in one month. I pretty much can pinpoint what it is. I drink two gallons of milk in a week. It's skim, but still......
I am also going to increase my daily treadmill time by 10 minutes.
ETA: I did not realize I repeated myself there. Whoops. They definitely have not brought up pre-e or GD. She told me all my numbers still look great, just that jump in weight. I admitted that I was hitting the milk really hard (did not tell her how much though) because of the heartburn and she told me to get some Pepcid Complete. I also got in the milk habit when I had no appetite, plus I just love the stuff. LOL
