S/O Shower Invites..

I know the other day someone mentioned how they didn't like getting the million different slips of paper in a shower invite, so I found this ironic:

Yesterday I got an invite that had 4 addition slips of paper with it.  FOUR.  There is a recipe card (which is kind of ironic because this girl is allergic to everything, and what she's not allergic to she just doesn't like), instructions on what to do with the recipe card, information on their registration, and then something saying to bring an additional present of sports memerobilia or tools so "the groom doesn't feel left out".

Re: S/O Shower Invites..

  • I will say that I have no issues with invite inserts.
  • For the recipe card DH's grandmom put like "one scoup of love, one dash of smiles, blah blah blah, makes 1 happy marriage". I thought it was cute, and an easy out for not actually having to find a recipe.
  • I would be more annoyed at all the requests for extra things and the reasoning "so the groom doesn't feel left out".  WTF?  I would so decline that invite just on principle

But I do find inserts annoying in general

double ditto! what is he going to do with a pile of sports junk for teams he doesn't even like??? the money could be better spent on things they registered for.  and as for him feeling left out, I'm not sure about you but my DH said "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make me be involved in the shower!!!!" When I joked about a jack and jill shower he took my ring and hid it from me!!!!! so he'd happily be left out, and my guess is this guy would be too!

This.  I really have no intention on getting them something other than what they registered for.  I just bought a house.  And I've got 5 other weddings this summer.  Money is not oozing from my pores.
