Hi! I'm back visiting and looking for advice again. I'm expecting my first baby in September (it's a girl!), and I'm just getting started on looking for a pediatrician, and I thought I'd start with you lovely ladies. I posted this on the RI Bump board too, but that board is always so slow, I thought maybe you'd be more help.
I live in Greenville, so I'm looking for someone in that general area. I'm open to either pediatricians or family practitioners. Who do you take your kids to, and what do you like about them? Thanks!
ETA - by "general area" I mean that Johnston, N. Prov, greater Smithfield, Foster, Lincoln - all acceptable for me. Just not so much places like EG or Wakefield, kwim? Thanks!
Re: Pediatrician recs - Greenville/Smithfield area?
We go to Atwood Pediatrics and have been happy.
My friend just decided on Smithfield Pediatrics for her baby due anyday now.
I also have friends that love Lincoln Pediatrics.
My sister goes to Smithfield Pediatrics. She likes one dr better than the other.
I actually switched practices when DD was a little over 3. My old practice only had one dr. and pretty crappy office hours.
I now go to Ocean State Pediatrics and I love that there is always a dr. on call and they have evening and weekends office hours for sick visits. The office is actually open on the weekends and you can call on a a saturday morning and not get an answering service and get an appointment that day.
I know that you don't want to go to EG but I suggest trying to find an office that has extended office hours and not refer you to the ER if you call after 4:00.

We go to Anchor Pediatrics in Lincoln. We see Dr. Cummings and have seen other Drs in the office. We met with Dr. Cummings before our babies arrived and I believe most of their Drs are willing to do that. They are open to 7pm most nights and have Sat & Sun morning hours for emergency. Any time I call with a question I can always speak to a nurse. So far we've been really happy with them.
I'm very happy with Lincoln Pediatrics. We love Dr. Sowa and Dr. Marazano!
I know my PCP sees children too. Dr. Solomon in N. Smithfield.
I should also add that there is always a nurse to call and ask questions too. If you call after a certain time-you get a doctor calling you back. One of the Doctors called us back last week after 7:30 pm. A doctor also answers the phones before office hours begin. i've called then too.
They also have a time set up where expecting parents can come to the office and talk with a doctor, ask questions, etc.
Good luck!
Thanks for all of the recs, ladies! This is a big help to get us started in our search!
And thanks for the congrats!
