QOTD- Wednesday

For those who celebrate Easter, do you have a big dinner/lunch on Sunday?

Re: QOTD- Wednesday

  • Yes. We'll have a big "lunch" at my mom's house with the whole family. My IL's are coming into town for it too. I say "lunch" because it's at 2:00. We'll have 14-18 people there.

  • I was planning to host a big lunch/dinner this year for 16 people, but then it all kind of fell through. My grandparents only wanted to come if they could stay at our house and bring their cat, but my parents are coming Monday so I put the kibosh on that (my dad's highly allergic to cats and I don't like them in the house, makes the dogs go nuts all weekend). JJ's grandpa is in the hospital with an infection, so they can't make it, plus FIL is OOT and BIL and his gf aren't coming in from GA. So instead, we're just going to JJ's parents and having dinner with MIL and us two. It will be nice and quiet, and I'm actually looking forward to it!

  • Usually it is just DH and I on Easter and usually has to work at some point in the day. This year I am going to PA so we will have Easter dinner/lunch with my dads side of the family. My mom wasn't sure of the details last time I talked to her.

  • We usually get together with H's family. If his grandparents are in town they host lunch. This year I will he at work for my normal 10 hour shift so I'll be missing everything. I'm only slightly (very) bitter about this.

  • It will just be DH and I since we have no family around. We celebrate Easter by checking out our easter baskets, then its an easter egg hunt in the backyard for the dogs with plastic eggs filled with dog treats (i'm. Strange like that). For dinner I will make roasted lamb, asparagus roasted and drizzled with olive oil ans balsamic vinegar and some type of potato dish.

  • My dad still hides eggs for us every year and videotapes us killing each other to find them. It's awesome. My mom usually makes a roast beef but I'm not sure what she's planning this year since she's been sick. I may have to take over, but I'm happy to do it.

  • I think we'll be going to be IL's for lunch. They live about an hour away. I have no idea who else, other than my BILs will be there, if anyone. This will be the third year in a row we will spend with DH's family, so I'm hoping next year we can go visit my fam, or host Easter at our house.

Yep, we're 24/7 365 days/year because it's not a holiday everywhere. Unfortunately Easter is not a holiday for NFCU (we recognize the Federal holidays) so I don't even get holiday pay.

Oh gosh. I'm so used to DH working at our credit union and their hours are a lot different. They are closed on Sundays. Branches and call center open shorter hours on Saturday. And of course closed on all federal holidays. He works at CHQ, so he just does Mon-Fri though. Even their call center closes at 7 on weekdays. It is funny to me that my job is closed Good Friday, but he still has to work. I always forget that, b/c he gets so many more holidays than I do.

Sorry you have to work Easter! I do know how that is from when I worked at a hospital.

  • My family always does a big dinner/lunch! I can't wait to be home with them this year! We didn't celebrate Easter last year since we were moving down here. My plane leaves in 5 hours and I couldn't be more excited to get home!!

  • I was just asking DH about this the other day. Since neither of our families are nearby, it will just be us. We're doing baskets for the boys, and I'll definitely be coloring some eggs with Jeffery to do a hunt in the yard. Not sure what's going on at church since we missed the last few weeks with the boys having colds, but I'm sure the children's ministry will be doing something.

As for food, DH said he really didn't care. He grew up with Easter not being a big deal. I grew up with it being a big deal, so we'll probably meet somewhere in the middle. I think I may make a roast or something.

  • Lunch with my side and dinner with DHs side.
  • Yeppers, brunch at my mom's place.  And an Easter egg hunt and everyone but the hider has to participate.  It's totally worth it b/c one egg has a 20 dollar bill in it!

  • My mom and I are invited to a friend's huge family lunch this year. So after church we'll head over there and participate in whatever their traditions are. I'm going a big birthday dinner on a sail boat for my best friend's mom in the evening in Destin too. It should be a fun busy day!

  • We usually have a big family gathering.  This year, we're going to my mom's, everyone brings a dish.  And, there's ham.
  • We always do dinner with my parents after church on Sundays, and no one has said anything about doing anything differently this Sunday, although my parents are having a barbecue on Saturday, so I'll be going to that (without DH. He has to work a double)
