WWYD

My carpet needs stretched and cleaned. I used the Skinner's for carpet cleaning last year and was pleased with the cost and the results. They had given me the name of someone that does stretching.  I was a little shocked at the cost so called a couple other companies in the phone book.  Once guy said he could do it for about 50 bux cheaper than the name that had been given to me.  He also does cleaning.  He came today and gave me an estimate for both.  It was $20-30 cheaper than if I had the guy Skinner's recommended and then had Skinner's clean the carpet.  Beside the cost savings, he would do it in one visit whereas I would have to schedule two different companies if I went the other way.  I was really pleased with Skinner's last year, but for the convenience of getting it all done at once I am tempted to go the one stop shop. The one stop shop is Carpet Pro - has anyone used them?  It is just the owner and another guy so I would think the quality and service would  be good/okay.  You can't stay in business for yourself if you do a poor job.  This really shouldn't be that tough, but was just really pleased with the outcome with Skinner's.

  • Personally, I think it's really hard to find a good carpet cleaner so if you were happy with Skinner then I would give them  the business again even if it meant two appointments. That's just my $.02 though. :)

  • As someone who comes from a family who ownes a business, I'd go with the 'one stop' guys. as long as they're insured/bonded you're fine. Who knows! Maybe they'll be better than Skinners? And you don't have to make 2apts, and wait around all day. Plus you'll save that extra $20/$30 to go to lunch while they do all the work :)

  • Have you tried to see if they are registered with Service Magic?  My SIL works for them, and as I understand the company, they do background checks, etc and make sure the people are competent, trustworthy, and not pieces of doodoo.  I have their website below.
