Mattress and smartphone.

We desperately need a new mattress. The one we have is 15 years old, and I can hear and feel every spring when I lay down or roll over.  It is so uncomfortable.  Anyone have a brand they especially like?  Anyone actually own a Temperpedic?  I'm intrigued, but I sit in/on the bed to watch tv a lot, and I'm afraid I'll end up with a permanent butt divet on a Temperpedic!

Also, my phone contract has been up for almost a year now, and I really want a new one.  I have Verizon.  Which do you like better - Droid or Verizon's iPhone?

Re: Recommend Your...

  • i know a lot of people who have the iphone and love it, i personally am not an all touch screen person and love my motorola droid devour!
  • Original Mattress Factory!!!  I have no idea what kind-  but my parents bought one 11 years ago when they moved into their house for themselves.  Then they bought one for the guest room (my room)... and it is AMAZING.    The first time DH stayed at my parents, he slept for a full 12 hours b/c that mattress is so comfortable!
  • ohhh man. my husband and i both just got HTC thunderbolts from verizon a few weeks ago and they have changed our lives hahaha...so definitely check those out at the store. they are AMAZING.

  • I'm not sure how the iphone is for verizon, but DH and I have them with at&t and are very happy with our phones.  My brother has the droid, though, and really loves it. (sorry, that isn't really helpful at all)

As for mattresses, we have a Vera Wang by Serta mattress that we love, although I'm not sure on many specifics except that it does have a pillow top.

  • DH and I both have droids and we love them!  DH was at verizon the other day talking to one of the workers and he asked about the verizon iphone and the guy said if you were to get one that it would be best to wait for the next version.  I guess there are still some bugs they are trying to work out (but who knows!)

As for mattress, we have a serta of some sort which is very comfortable, then for the wedding we got a temperpedic mattress topper and it is AMAZING!!!  It cushions your body but doesn't leave weird imprints.  It makes sleeping extremely comfortable, the only negative would be that it is very hot.  I am a hot sleeper to begin with and the foam definitely heats up.

  • DH and I both have a droid and I love it.  My best friend and her fiance got the HTC version of the droid through verizon and she loves it!

As for mattresses, when I moved home from college my parents bought me a Sealy plush top and I loved it.. (my brother could not wait to take over my room and take the mattress when i got married).  DH and I bought a queen sized version Sealy of what I had before.  I love Sealy mattresses-plush top (not firm, and not ultra-plush) I never want to get out of bed!

  • We have a Sealy Posterpedic. It is amazing - we splurged BIG time on it. It was the first thing we bought together (right around when we got engaged.) It's one with the pillow top on it, which is GREAT. The only thing that kind of stinks is that because it's so thick (18 in), we have to buy deep pocket fitted sheets for it. Most bedding sets are regular sheets, so when we registered/bought all our bedding, we had to buy the comforter set and sheets separately. But it's not that big of a problem.

  • I agree with the pillow top kind.  We got a new one in Sept and it is so much better!  I tried the tempurpedic and I did not like it.  We stayed at a friend's house in March and slept on their tempurpedic and my back hurt the next day.  I know they say you will get used to it but I am glad we did not go with it.  I want a soft bed!!!
  • we dont have a tempurpedic, but we have a memory foam mattress from Bobs discount furniture (a bob-o-pedic!) and i adore it. its so comfy. was like 1/3 of the price so not exactly as forming to your body (that hand sink in test doesnt actually show a hand print) but i would buy another one absolutely.

  • We just bought our mattress for the President's Day sale at Mattress Warehouse.  It is a Serta Perfect Sleeper, king size pilowtop, the model is called "Willow Pond", or at least that's what MW calls it.  We love it so far!  It does need deep pocket sheets.  We have non-deep pocket sheets on it right now and they don't fit all the way to the bottom... the bed is about 3-4 feet off the ground lol.  But I love it.  We also got a nice mattress protector for it.  Researching mattresses can be difficult because the reviews are soooooo subjective, we ended up just going with our gut after shopping around a little bit.

We both have the original Droid with Verizon.  I absolutely hate mine and I cannot wait until the contract on it is up in November.  I definitely got the lemon.  It sucks.  It has all these ridiculous problems, I can't even begin to name them all.  But worst of all I can't even get the stupid thing to break so that they'll give me a new one through the insurance.  DH has gone through 3 via water damage/insurance policy replacements, and none of his have had any of the problems mine has... p*sses me off!  I think I'll probably get the iPhone in November (staying with Verizon).

  • I have no idea what our mattress is...DH bought it before the wedding, and I wasn't a part of the purchase.

DH and I both have Droids...he has an original Droid, and I have the Droid 2 (R2D2 version...hehehe).  We both really like them.  I like that it has both the physical and touchscreen keyboards, and I think all of the apps are great.  I've only had mine for a month, but I really like it.  DH has had his for almost a year, and he only had one issue with it.  One of the buttons stopped working, but Verizon gave him a new one no question.
