bike helmets
The new pictures of Eli made me think of this. As I mentioned before, Owen got the FP rock roll n ride trike for his bday. We haven't taken it outside yet, but when we do, I'm thinking I'll maybe get a helmet for him. What do you think? Overkill for a slow ride on a low bike?

Eli had an infant helmet last year for the WeeRide bike seat and was fine with it. Tried to use the same helmet this year in the trailer and it didn't totally fit right and made him so mad. Letting him pick out the Cars helmet and getting a toddler size helped a lot.
To answer your question- he's getting a tricycle for his b-day too and I will have him wear the helmet while he rides outside. I'm sure he won't go fast, but it doesn't bother him to wear it, it could only help if he did fall off and it will get him used to the idea of wearing helmets while riding bike.
Ben has one for when he rides his tricyle. We got it at LLBean last year. It can be hard to find the helmets that are small enough and it needs to be snug incase of a fall.
