Gas Prices...

Ugh.  When you drive 120 miles a day to/from work like I do, this whole gas prices situation really has an effect on your way of life.  Gas here in Central IL just his $3.99 this afternoon, a 20 cent jump from the morning.  What are gas prices like where you ladies live?

Re: Gas Prices...

  • I'm on the West Coast of MI and when I was out today gas was at $3.99 too.

  • Prices around here have actually gone down in the last week or so. The lowest I've seen is $3.77.
  • I'm just outside of Portland Or. last time I bought gas I paid 3.81 but that was last week so I'm sure it has gone up. Luckily we live less then .5 miles from DH work ( he walks or rides his bike) and 2 miles from my school.

  • Last time I bought gas it was $4.16...le sigh.
  • last Friday I was still able to get it at $3.69... up to around 3.83 in Bergen County, NJ... I live in NY but gas prices in our town are above $4.15 so a two mile drive to NJ actually makes a huge difference

  • The gas station I drove past this morning said 4.39.  Luckily I only drive about 3 miles round trip and can get away with filling my gas tank every 2 or 3 weeks.

ETA:  This is in Chicago.  It is always about 20 cents cheaper outside of the city.

  • We get it cheaply(!) at Costco for $4.09!  So much money!

  • I can get gas for $3.47 at my local Kroger.  We get 10 cents off per gallon when we use the grocer's member card.

My light just came on while I was out this morning, but I probably won't fill up until Monday.  DH and I are lucky that we live so close to everything.  I'm 1 mile from school and DH is 10 miles from work.

  • Lowest is approx. $3.50. I don't even look at the gas prices anymore lol.

Yesterday when I was filling up I saw a woman ask if she could get $10 of gas & pay for it the next day when she got paid -- they actually said yes. I felt bad for the woman though.

Oh my goodness.  Something needs to be done about this.  Any hope of continuing the apparent recovery our country has seen is going down the tubes fast.  I'm really hoping that I can get this other teaching job I'm applying for because I'd be able to bike to work in nice weather.  I'm spending about $80-90 in gas a week right now!  In August, when I first started my current job, it was about $55-60 a week.  Ugh.

  • It's $3.75 where I am in NJ.  I can't wait until we move, because I will be 2 miles from work and H will be 5 miles.  I'll be able to bike (at least when it's nice) so we'll be saving on gas. Right now I buy gas 2x a month and H buys about 3-4x a month :(
